Hi people. I want to introduce to you a new application from Antlogic, called Antnotes.

You can download app from the following URL: https://itunes.apple.com/app/antnotes/id808734429
Also you can download a FREE version, called Simple Antnotes
See video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7wKKeGZDFw
Read more at our site: http://www.antlogic.com/apps/antnotes

It was designed to be a handy and nice Sticky Notes solution, with the following features:
  • customizable background, font, text color
  • resizable
  • translucent
  • pin note to desktop to make it stay atop of other windows
  • attach note to any application so it will be shown only when that app is active
  • snap to screen bounds and other notes
  • quickly show/hide via menu bar icon
  • archive with all closed notes - do not lose your information by accidentally closing the note
  • smart position choosing for different display configurations

Want more features? Just let us know, we'll consider almost everything except cooking, coffee making and walking your dog!

Does AntNotes remember notes positions when you are using dual monitors (on 10.8.5)? My one beef with Apple's stickies is when you log out or restart all your notes get moved back to the primary display. I'll buy this if it fixes that issue.

Yes, it is designed to remember monitor configuration, and pick up new position automatically, after the monitor configuration change.
Or, you can wait for few days, we submitted free version of the application with the limited functionality to Mac App Store for review.
If it will not work as you expected, just let us know.

Version 1.0.6 of Antnotes application is ready to download. It this version:
- fixed displaying of links dragged to text/menu bar icon
- updated help note
- some other minor usability fixes here and there
- fixed some issues with custom text/background color selection

Also we published FREE version of Antnotes application, called Simple Antnotes. It has somehow limited in functionality, but otherwise works as the original Antnotes app.

Next update, version 1.1.0, is available at Mac App Store.
In this version we added support for Mac OS 10.6 (yeah, according to statistics around 18% of people still use it), feature to show number of notes at menu bar, and automatic notes hiding feature. Also there are some other minor fixes.

New version, 1.2.0 is available at Mac App Store.
Now you can attach note to any application, so it will be shown only when that application is active.
Also this version adds 'help' menu item so you can quickly access information about Antnotes usage.

Just bought the app, seems to work well. Now part of my startup apps!

"Show notes" only shows temporarily hidden notes, you don't actually see all notes unless you "Manage" notes. So I wonder if there is a better way to describe this in the menu....

Thank you for purchasing our application.
Yes, 'show notes' is designed to show hidden notes or notes which are behind of other applications.
Notes in 'Manage notes' are considered to be closed, not hidden.

Antnotes

I bought Ant Notes, and they work well. However I need notes that will attach to a single document within an application, such as word for mac. I know Word has its own comments section that looks sticky note like, but its not what I'm after. Ant note does not seem to stick with a document, and stays in place when that document is closed. Years ago i used some app that would stick with the individual document, both opening and closing with it. I assume they no longer make that app (or maybe it was back in my "windows phase"). Anyway, if anyone knows of such an app, could you let me know? Thank You.

We will investigate if this possible via the public API (you know, Mac App Store applications are a bit limited in their functionality due to security reasons).

Also we glad to announce the availability of version 1.3.0 of Antnotes application.
Within this version we:

- fixed OS X 10.6 compatibility issues.
- enabled spellchecking for all notes
- fixed possible high memory usage
- Simple Antnotes: added options button which allows to customise a note or clone it/save it to the file

New version 1.3.5 of Antnotes and Simple Antnotes applications is ready to download from Mac App Store.
As requested by our users, we added a Dock icon to this version (but you can disable it through Preferences). Clicking the Dock icon will quickly show or hide Antnotes.
Plus the new version got other usability improvements and bug fixes.

Very nice app. But imho, if you add these couple of features it would make it a great app. At least imho of course.

1) Sync
Syncing between more macs.

2) Minimising notes. Not to the dock, but simply a large note would become a very small one and would float around. Like a tiny circle or something. Clicking on that circle would bring it back to it's previous stati. Hovering over it would show the title (first sentance in a note).

3) Exporting to other note taking apps such as evernote, onenote, NoteBook, etc.

4) Grouping notes, saving them and then restoring. For example, lets say by doing one of my projects I've created a 6-7 notes. And I want them on my screen only when I'm doing my project. So I save all of created notes in a stack/group, give it a name, and then turn them off.

But when I want them back, I simply load them and that's all.

I know this would probably make the app not so lightweight, but it would make it a really strong competitor. Especially if you can manage to implement at least this last thing I wrote about.

Buy in anyway, great little app. GJ dude :)

Thanks for the detailed wish list.
We are still working on iCloud sync.
I think the next step will be grouping notes, it should not be hard to implement.
The same about minimising notes, we just need to think about the better way of doing that.

You are welcome :)

And it seems that you are overestimating how people like to pay for features :)
From around 20k of Simple Antnotes users only few bought a paid version, and just around 10 spent some time to put a rating at App Store. Most of them - to put 1 since they cannot remove application (it was menu bar app in first versions).

Don't worry. I'm a developer as well. And I know how people simply hate to spend even 0.99$ on an app, but when you put a free version they complain about ads and/or in app purchases. Everyone wants everything for free, made just for them and only them.

But I do like to think that there are some people still out that that would gladly pay for something they use. I know I'm one of those people, but we are becoming a vast minority :(

Greetings from Croatia ;)

EDIT:
And btw, I forgot to put in a rating. That's taken care of :D

Yep, actually happy thankful users sometimes is what drives development more then money.
Thanks for the review, we appreciate that!
