I tried 1TB Fusion v 2TB Fusion at Apple Store. There is noticeable delay with 1TB Fusion drive, but not terrible, when I load projects in iMovie.

Well, I cancelled my 256GB and am going to reorder the 512GB. The SSD speed is too nice to use an external, and the upgrade price is surprisingly reasonable. Unfortunately since the previous charge will still apply to my credit limit, which is too low to be able to order until that's gone, looks like I'll not only lose my place in the queue but then also have to wait a few extra days as well. The Apple Store FAQ says:

Does anyone have any experience with how long it usually takes, or what that request to remove the authorization is?
It's probably expired now anyway, but just for future reference.

An auth that hasn't been settled against usually expires in around 5 days, however it can take longer for the issuer (your bank) to remove it, Apple may run an authorization reversal but there is no guarantee your bank will do it.

It's mostly automated which is why they don't usually bother with auth reversals as by the time they've done anything it will have expired anyway.

If you give your bank a call next time and moan they can remove the authorization for you in certain circumstances, but i can't guarantee that will actually get done.

Can someone give me an idea on what read and write speeds are expected from the HDD portion of the fusion drive?

Ive seen loads around the SSD portion but i'm keen to know how slow the HDD portion is.

(as that's where most of my data will be stored)

Cheers
