A lot of posts are people who have an X and returning it and keeping their 8+ or getting an 8+.

Anyone like me who has a 7 tried out an X and going to get an 8? I much prefer the 6/7/8 footprint. Getting some bells and whistles with the 8 but not all which I’m ok with.

Any 6/7/8 lovers?

Contrary to what others think about the outdated design of the iPhone 6/7/8, Apple has refined that model over the years, that it really became a staple in their lineup. The iPhone 8 being the strongest of all of them and you can't go wrong with model knowing your purchasing a solid iPhone.

My husband loves his 8. It has just enough upgrades while remaining the familiar device he is accustomed to. The 8 is fast and has decent upgrades. I personally decided to test the waters with the X in a few weeks (ordered last night) to see how it goes. If it doesn't work out I will likely get the 8 too.

It is sort of an outdated design per se but then again it isn’t. Either I’m used to the design or don’t want to get used to the X...the footprint of the 6/7/8 I’m extremely comfortable with in terms of 1 hand operation, pocketability. I watch of Netflix and YouTube and I’m perfectly fine watching on my 6.

The X is a different footprint that I don’t want to get used too. The 8 is a good upgrade from my 7.

I had a 6+ from February 2015 to September 2015. I've had a 6s+ since September 2015, still using it.

I don't care for the camera bump and antenna lines. Both phones I owned not because I really desired them, but due to circumstance that year.

Apple got rid of the antenna lines with the 7/7+ but they made the camera bump bigger. I skipped it. I skipped the 8/8+ and the X for the same reasons.

Apple is in love with the camera bump. I am not.

I've had the iPhone 6 since not long after it was released. It's showing its age (battery and performance issues), but I have no issues with the design of the 6/7/8. Yes the iPhone X display is impressive, but I thought the iPhone 6 display was just as impressive when I first got it.

My main reason for wanting the X over the 8 is the ability to get the dual camera in a smaller package. After trying them both out I found the X easier for me to operate one-handed than the 8 Plus. On the other hand, there is something to be said for the display and aspect ratio of the 8 Plus. Also, it's not like there haven't been significant changes to each new model. The 7 and 8 have debuted some pretty major photography improvements and new features (like wireless charging on the 8).

Overall I'm the kind of person who likes refinement over big changes to personal technology. Big changes always mean a period of adjustment and bugs. Refined products are those that have hit their stride and are finely tuned/dialed in. I guess the problem is that refinement doesn't tempt as many people to upgrade. Big design changes and new gee whiz features sell lots of new phones.

Camera bump doesn’t bother me on my 7 cause I rock it in a Magpul case.

I don't use cases so it does bother me. I've been told my problem will go away if I do use a case. But then I have a case problem. It's an either/or. :D

Everyone has a preference and it's not my intent to crap all over someone's choice. Just expressing my opinion.

I'm not saying it's not outdated, I'm just saying contrary to what others think, it's a phone that has become much improved over the years and the iPhone 8 is evidence of that after four models. Apple may have retained the chassis throughout the years with the iPhone 8, but there are a lot of incremental improvements they made it to be a well rounded device with the stereo speakers, dual camera, water resistance, and True tone.

Gotcha if I wasn’t using a case the camera bump could bother me too.

Well maybe Apple thought they needed to get in with the times of larger edge to edge displays. I was hoping for a 7 form factor with edge to edge or close.

My husband was coming from a 6 and he appreciates the speed difference and the increased volume mostly. He has some hearing impairment. I am currently using a 6s until I either decide to keep the X or trade that in for an 8. The 8 seems to get overlooked in many of these threads.

I loved my 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus.

I love my X more. :D

If Apple would've put the Plus camera on a 6/7/8 I honestly would've never hopped to the the Plus model and would be less inclined to switch to an iphone x.

I got a 6 Plus when it came out cause of the camera, couldn’t wait to return it felt like a brick in my pocket.

Really OP? Not sure how you can even ask the question if you've been on MR in the past 2 weeks and have a pulse. Obviously there are 6/7/8 form factor fans. You can find them in any of about 1000 threads.

I had a 6s, and really liked the size of the phone coupled with the performance and features on offer. However, I really did want a slightly larger, slightly higher resolution display, and a more grippy back (in hand). The plus size phone is nice in both regards for me, but the size was not something I wanted. The iPhone 8 was then introduced and I was not very interested in paying $699 starting for that phone over my 6s, so I thought I’d need to get a plus. Then came along the iPhone X. It checked all my boxes, and I could live with a slightly larger phone to get that.

For me the iPhone 8 is nice, but I was really hoping for something a bit more from Apple to entice me to get that device.

I had two 6S+ models, one had an issue with battery. Decided it was too heavy which ruled out the 8S+. Was going to get a X but: too early for now to my taste, would have to wait 3-4 weeks.

Felt I’d try the 8. My hand doesn’t get sore or tired and text us crisp and clear. Was worried about typing but that’s okay too. And I have a 9.7” iPad when I want.

I’m coming from a Galaxy S8+ (and before that Mate 9 - very wide phone and 190g range) a tad heavy and scared to drop. No way I use it without a case and worry the cat will knock it off “his” desk.

I like having something small and light to take on walks, fit in a pocket, in my hand. 8 fits the bill.

The 8 and X are ~same weight and knowing me I’ll probably splurge on one in the summer. I think it’s so new it’s “1.0” plus by then iOS 11.4-ish or something will be mature.
