Any advice on Kenwood Car Stereo's?

I am looking for an aftermarket carplay compatible head unit for my Toyota Tacoma. Cel coverage is spotty when Im in certain parts of NH, so a HU that has its own navigation when I don't have a cel phone signal seems like a good idea and is what has held me back.

The Kenwood Excelon DNX693S seems to offer garmin navigation and CarPlay. Just what I was looking for. Does anyone have experience with these units.

Anyone have a feeling if I should wait to see if aftermarket wireless CarPlay headhunts might be coming out soon?

Had an older Excelon and never like it. Moved to Pioneer AVIC and a much better unit. If you have Carplay you won't really user the on board NAV as much as you will Apple Maps. That said, I much prefer the NAV of the AVIC to Garmin which just feels dated and slow.
