Hi,
looking to see if there are any other sites like ChapterDB.org where I can also look for chapter markers for my videos? I left them out of my rips for a long time and now working to fix this oversight using Subler. (A great app I donated to author for, too!) Problem is, I'm caught in google search term hell trying to find sites to find things which aren't on ChapterDB.
Help!
:D

Did you ever find an alternative? Chapterdb.org has been offline for a few days now with no signs of getting back online..

Not at initial release, but some time later, the chapter data will show up on Barnes and Noble's site. That's the only consistent alternative I've found.

MetaX does a good job for me pulling up chapter titles <knock on wood>. That's mainly what I use that app for, as I prefer Subler for the rest of my metadata'n.

Nope. Not myself, but this Barnes & Noble thing sounds interesting. :D

They have very detailed information on every movie they sell - including a Scene Index. As stated before, though, for new releases the index usually just says "Scene 1...Scene 2..." (as did ChapterBD for quite a few new releases).

I wouldn't say "every" .. in fact for the first few I checked...releases from about a year ago (I can't recall which I was trying with though).. nothing. I was able to find them for TMNT and Cannonball Run (next things I tried).

Seeking any intel on ChapterDB.org also. Am getting a 404 error today (Feb 2019).
Was going to upload a file for a new bluray restoration.
ChapterDB is still the only site of its kind on the web. Hope it's not gone for good!

Having the same issue. Went to look for some chapters and I'm getting a big 404. Hopefully, chaptersdb come back. Like you said, it's the only site I've ever found like it!

idont know what is happening I am getting the same error message as well it know has almost been a full month with http://chapterdb.org being down no idea when or if it is going to be back but one thins is for sure this is very rude and annoying

if anyone can send that web site a email http://chapterdb.org and let them know that there is a issue thank that would be great

the main reason http://chapterdb.org is that the funder did not have enough funds to keep the site up if everyone wants the web site back let him know you can email him here jarretv@gmail.com let him know you want the web site back

I can assure you that is the wrong email address. I have had so many emails about this but I don't know anything about this site. Cheers, The real Jarretv

I just created an account to let you know that I found this page http://chapterdb.plex.tv/. It has all the chapters that were available on chapterdb.org until february of this year. Hope this helps, it sure helped me.
Bless your cotton socks for finding that archive. Clever you!
I've just finished subs for the bluray of John Grisham's The Client (1994) movie and Barnes & Noble don't have it listed for sale. But I found it on this archive - yippee!
I hope the original site owner finds us here; I'd gladly subscribe to his site.
What a pity the subtitle sites don't cater for chapters as well.

p.s. Is there some way to pin Carlosmave's reply at the top for all to see straightaway?

Thank you for the Barnes & Noble tip.

How can I create a chapter file that can be muxed into an .mkv? The link above is dead.
Accidentally found your question; in the incorrect thread title so if you're still seeking an answer, I'll try to help.

The simplest way I've found is to use a free tool called mkvtoolnix. When you open it up, drag in the video under the Input tab.
Switch to the Global tab, and in the Chapters box, browse to where your text-formatted chapters file is located, then select Language and Charset options. (Character set is usually UTF8).
Finally check the output filename and location (bottom box) and then select Start Muxing. If everything's formatted correctly, it will only take a few seconds to create your new mkv file.

If that doesn't answer your question, write again.
