I was just wondering if any of you could recommend a cheaper alternative to nifty minidrive which fits the retina 13.

On ebay there´s different cheaper versions of nifty minidrive but they don't work with the retina 13. (Needs to be smaller than for air, retina 15 etc.) I could only find one that fits with the retina 13 and thats the nifty mini drive which is quiet expensive, (its just an adapter!)

Guess the others will work but they will probably stick out so it will be easy to break.

    Thanks in advance.

Re Nifty alternatives makes a ret 13

Options that are not nifty the one thats been around the longest is The MiniDrive, . We make a Retina 13 integrated 64gb capped flush drive and is releasing a Retina 13 adapter soon We also make a 128GB Retina 13 MiniDrive (Amazon) and custom orders via Soon these will be more widely available. And our new Retina 13" Adapter will be very nice and available very soon and yes less than Nifty.

I looked into those options a while ago and think I read something along the lines that the 13" macbook pro retina can use max. 64GB in the SD slot .. is this still true? which model (minidrive) or whatever could I use to max out at 128? is that possible or limited by the internal structure of the mac?

Re: Any alternatives to nifty mini drive for mbpr 13? now make a retina 13 adapter ($10 less than Nifty) and an even cheaper MiniDrive "Nano" (Nano is the smallest adapter on the market at 14mm) These are available at amazon and here at TheMiniDrive
All of the MiniDrive adapters we make will support a 128GB MicroSD (and beyond, when available) So rest assured that you will be able to upgrade as new Larger / Faster MicroSD cards hit the market. The rMBP 13" can support 128GB and greater via its SD port.

Coupon code- take5 will take 5$ off any adapter purchased at

Really, don't bother with something that's flush. Leaving the SD card in there all the time means that the laptop will never enter deep sleep, and your standby time will suffer.
