I have a MBP 14" M1 Pro.

For the last year i've been on 900-1000 charge cycles. Battery a year ago was 84% now it's 81%.

The battery life is quite awful compared to new. However Applecare+ won't replace it unless it is under 80%.
Im currently at 1018 cycles and 81% health.

My applecare+ expires the end of October.

The last month i've been charging it on 100W fast charger than depleting it running fold@home and charging external devices, I get around 60-70W output this way.
Is there any way I could strain this battery more?

Heat and fast discharge kills batteries.

Fire up some stressful games and run them on battery.

You preserve battery life by not charging to 100% (I've seen 80% recommended), and not allowing the battery to fully dischage.

Thus, to do the opposite, have your charge/discharge cycles go from 100% to 0%.

Combine that with what the last poster recommended (heat + fast charge/discharge).

Bonus points if your battery catches on fire. Kidding!

Alternate idea: Don't do any of the above, and instead purchase an extension to AC+ (if it's available in your country). I find AC+ is particularly helpful for laptops.

I am probably going to purchase an extension,

It’s saved me around 5-7K in my ownership of the laptop. I am a major fan of AC+ and a klutz. M1 Pro is still overpowered for my usage.

But I’m also sick of the awful battery life. I thought when I bought the year extension last year I’d be able to replace the battery during it.

It’s to the point where I’d be willing to pay for a new battery but I’m so damn close to the free replacement. I don’t want to deal with this battery for months more even if I do renew.
It needs to die.

I am a klutz.

I dropped my phone onto my computer and it had the smallest crack and the whole computer screen went black.

HOWEVER...
The tech that fixed the screen noticed the battery was almost shot. SO THEY REPLACED IT!

I finally have a fresh battery.
