Thanks for the post. As I have talked with other people today, I have been told I have made a big mistake and that there is no way it will work for me. I have been feeling hopeful after reading posts here but then that goes away when I talk to family members and other people I know. Like I said before, I preordered the 38mm with Milanese loop and supposed to deliver in the earliest time frame. I have decided to let it come and try it and then make a decision. My sister told me that I will be really disappointed when I find out that she and everyone else are right that the Apple Watch will not work. I am hoping it will, just to prove her and everyone else that have told that it won't work on me.:(

Okay, first of all, you should get the 42mm instead. The bands are longer, and the larger size will look better on your wrist.

Secondly, I wouldn't get the Milanese loop. That one is a circle that can't be undone, so even if it fits your wrist, it might not fit over your hand.

Best bet is the large leather loop. And even that may not work, but you can return it if you need to.

Oh, and ignore the jerks. I'm not huge, by any means, but it turns out my wrists are larger than normal. I really had no idea until I measured. They look kind of dainty, really, so I was surprised by that. And a little pleased. :)

Tried on watches today. All were 42mm.

I have fairly large wrists, one 200mm, the other 210mm. The Milanese band just barely worked on the 210mm wrist...the closing tab just had enough length to flip over and connect with the band. It worked fine on the 200mm wrist.

The sports band fit both wrists, no problem. However on my larger wrist the peg was in the last hole of the large band.

The leather loop had the greatest length. On the smaller wrist the strap almost doubled back to the other end. There was a couple inches fold over on my larger wrist.

Sorry, no pics.

Well, I just put in an order for a 42mm SS with black leather loop. I did not cancel the 38mm SS with Milanese loop because I still want to see if I can make it work. Thanks for your comments. I think it is important, because not everyone falls into the skinny or normal wrist range and really, what is normal? We are all unique and thank goodness for that.

I have a wrist measurement of 221mm. I tried on the 42mm SS Link (which is what I ordered) not thinking it would fit as the max size is listed at 205mm, but it did barely. I had just enough space to put the end of a finger just between the band and my wrist.

I also tried on a 38mm SS Milanese (wanted to try the 42 but they didn't have one) and it would not even fit over my hand, so I couldn't even attempt to fasten it. I also tried on the 42mm SS with classic buckle and it had plenty of space left.

Wow. It is interesting to hear how conservative Apple was on the sizing. I have what I thought was big 205mm wrists but they do not seem THAT out of normal. I originally had planned to start with the SS Link and was terrified it would be too tight to be comfortable. I ended up getting the Classic Buckle which I think I might be liking better anyway. I WILL be trying on more things in the Berlin store mid May and can decide at that time if I even want any more bands.

I remember when I got my Rolex the friend who sold it to me even took out a link or two to make it fit better so was confused why the apple one would be so small.

My wrist is 187mm, 60mm wide. I tried on a 38mm and also a 42, I'm still indecisive. Although my wrist isn't that big, I have large hands I was still unsure about how both watches would look on my hand. Something I didn't consider was how would the 38 look with different bands, like a Milanese. I realized that depending on the band the watch has a different impact.

The 38 is pictured.

I'm just hoping that the link band will still fit on those days where my wrist is slightly bigger due to hydration/sweating. It was snug for my tastes and nowhere near as relaxed fitting as any of my current SS link bands. It seems a given that Apple will offer extra links for buyers of this band given the easily interchangeable design. The leather band is not really an option for me as I need something that is waterproof and can withstand hand washing between patients.

Some of the store staff who had tried it on and couldn't get it to fit agreed that it seemed logical for :apple: to offer a few additional links vs taking the loss on a return if the band fit at one time of day and not another.

This is good news for me!

I have a 206mm wrist. My three best watches are an electric Tag Heur and automatic Omega Seamaster and Rolex Datejust Jubilee. All three watches are Stainless Steel with a link bracelet. All were purchased new and the jeweler never removed a link.

Thus, I am at the max of the standard size watch.

I wasn't surprised to hear that I was a the max for the Apple Watch.

I ordered the sports watch and an extra leather band. Hope that it fits me like those who have tried them on for size.

Thanks!

Wow, just read another person's thread about big wrists, and people were not being very helpful. Some were quite rude. All of you that have posted on this thread, I thank you for your input.

Alternate method for fitting into the milanese loop?

My wrist size is just under 200mm, so I am very glad of this thread, as I was worried I would be at the end of my loop so to speak.

For those whose hand might not make it through the loop, but their wrist might fit, do you think it possible they could use the band changing mechanism to get it on and off the wrist?

I haven't tried one on and am not familiar with the details of the mechanism, but it seems to me that there are more often than not multiple means for removing the dermis of a feline.

My two cents! And all the best to all.

Wow, now I really feel like a freak of nature. I'm female my left wrist is at about 195. I really have my heart set on a 38 mm sport... actually, it's coming tomorrow. I tried the 42 mm on in store, but they didn't have the 38 mm with a large band, so I wasn't able to try it on and ordered it unseen. My heart would break if I had to send it back for a 42 mm model. :(

The blue sports band is so comfortable with my large wrist that I canceled the leather band and ordered a black sports band.

Mattapotomus,

No when you look at the sizing guide, but an Apple rep said he thought the Milanese loop would work. I have already read other posts stating that big wrist people are just fat people and that fat people should not even think that they could wear an Apple watch, because Apple didn't design it for fat people because Apple doesn't want fat customers. So yes my measurement is large and yes I do want an Apple watch. I am sorry if it offends people of normal wrist or small wrists, but we are all people and you don't know me.

Ugh, it's like the Abercrombie of tech, jk. Just get it dude. You just have to deal with the tighter fit for a few weeks before the third parties come in and save the day. Who cares what people on the anonymous forum think. It's gonna bring you a lot of fun, I swear.

I got my 38mm watch with Millinese loop Friday. My hand does go through the loop and band works. I did order a 42mm on the 11th, but it is stuck in Juneland. Just wanted everyone to know.

----------

After I got my 38mm Friday, I posted pictures here and there were people who were no kind and even offensive about how big my hand and wrist and arm looked. One poster even said it looked as though I had it on a leg. I can fit two fingers under the loop, without a problem. Like I said I did get rude and offensive comments, but I also got kind ones. I worried and worried and even had a meltdown. All made worse by negative comments. Don't listen to the rude ones and get the watch if you want it.#

I already posted that I preordered a 38mm with Milanese loop. I have a wrist that measured 240mm if I did it right. A few people have responded that they thought it would work. So far the videos I have seen are all of people with small wrists. Is there anyone with large wrists that have tried the Apple watch on and what do you think? Do you think there might be extenders that could work?:) If you have videos, please post.

I have a 235mm size wrist and I just came back from a watch fitting. I was trying on the SS Watch with Link Bracelet and I was able to fit it on and it snugly closed. I tried on the Black Sport Band and it snugly fix on the last hole.

Ps. The Link bracelet was not staying connected at the top as reported and the staffer was unable to get it to latch in!

What was the problem with the link bracelet mate? Our wrists are almost the same size so I'm interested to know about your experience.

It fet snugly so if don't mind a snug fit you are OK I asked if they would be selling extra links the staffer had no idea.

the big issue I had found on that band was the top connector was not locking in place. It's a issue reported on the front page of MR.

Any big wrist people try Apple Watch?

I was born with a cyst which squished my pituitary and have been "fat" all my life. I just am insulted and was when I read the post. I think I will let the 32mm with Milanese loop come and give it a try. I can't go to an Apple Store to try one on that is why I was asking people with large wrists to respond. .

That sucks, so is it more or less impossible for you to lose weight? I know the pituitary controls things such as your thyroid, I think a colleague of mine suffers with the same problem. She mentioned the pituitary anyway.

Preach, Teach!

My partner weighs over 300 and I love it!

:)

Although, I'm just 160 with a 38 SS ML + additional white sport band; he has a Moto 360 (ugly watch), looks fantastic on him.

You would probably be best off getting the 42mm with the classic buckle, that way you can use the connectors with a any normal watch band, so you could find a longer band that will properly fit your large wrist.

Or buy with the sport band and buy some 3rd party band adapters.

[doublepost=1516396219][/doublepost]I don’t know about the Milanese loop model but it is darn near impossible (with the exception of a few cheap ugly knockoffs) to find a band for a guy with big wrists. My husband’s are 8.5” and the L Apple band fits (BARELY) on last notch but comes open and the watch falls off because there’s no tail to tuck in the loop. Apple - is this Watch not for big guys?! It’s frustrating! I can’t help but know we feel your pain!

I've worn mine on the Sport band's last peg and there's enough tail to tuck it in.

Apple sells a larger L/XL size for the Sport band in black or white that they list as fitting up to 245mm wrists. They also have a kit with extra links for the Link Bracelet that extends the bracelet by 40 mm.

Both of these OEM options are for the 42mm AW.

Sorry for replying to an older post but as far as the Milanese band goes... I'm a bigger guy but had to get a 38/40mm watch due to my writs size, the Milanese band does not fit over my hand but the guy at Apple showed me a trick on the older Milanese band (the new ones since 2018 slide in and out of clasp) but I got a good deal on an older one at Microcenter. You can just push the back button like when you change the bands, just push the top one and put the watch on and slide the band into place, then loosen it and then push your finger on the button and slide it off to take it off. Just like when you remove the band. That way your not cutting your hand trying to get the band on. The newer design fixes this issue but the older design it's the easiest way around it.

I have 150mm wrists ... just here to see how big wrists can be on other human bodies.
Technically the link bracelet could work out since you can buy extra links to match your wrist size.
