Found this Googling - standalone Apple Watch data plan from SpeedTalk Mobile.

Does it work ?

Cost seems great for 1 year pre-paid ?

About $4.50/month sounds good, but what about the service ?

Interesting. Unless you have cell service with them, your iPhone number won't be attached to your watch.

Not sure how that would work.

Not for Apple Watch, unless I misread.

AW with cellular can have a separate plan from your iPhone cell plan.
They still link via WiFi for updates but the ability to make calls / texts without your iPhone nearby is the reason for a separate cell number.

Sent message to vendor about eSIM on S9 but haven't heard back.

Not looking good....

I wish this would work on AW but I highly doubt it. If anyone finds out please let us know.

Sounds cool if it works, but no, I haven’t tried it or heard of it...

I’d also love to learn about more options for Apple Watch plans, I am on Cricket Wireless which is fine and I can’t justify changing from it ($25/mo unlimited) just for a Watch feature I won‘t use often, but they seem to very likely be not offering Watch plans at any time in the future. : (

I don’t really want Apple to keep up this trend of offering so many Services for so many things (News, Tv, music, etc.), however this is one thing I wish they’d just offer so we didn’t have to deal with the horrible US phone companies for it. (I know, it’s an unrealistic wish ….)

I think Visible supports Apple Watch but haven't tried it myself. My wife and I are on T-Mobile 55+ and have been happy with them - no hidden fees or taxes since they're included, price after autopay discount is price after autopay discount.

TMO has a $5/mo Apple Watch plan with 500MB/mo high speed data plan which works well if you're not streaming music directly over cellular; or a $10/mo unlimited high speed data plan if you are. AFAIK they're not available without having a postpaid line.

Thanks, I’ll look into Visible … I suspect that like Tmobile I have to already have a phone line with them. I do have an ipad line w/ Tmobile, for data but they won’t count that.

Yes, I expect Visible requires you to have a line with them, but they appear to have a similar $25/mo unlimited prepaid plan so they might be worth your consideration.

Bummer, I have TMO prepaid service and the data line for the AW is $10 / month. Looking for lower cost monthly as I don't really make calls thru the AW.

Just a backup method of communications.
