Do you they will add it in as a BTO option?
I seriously doubt it...
So no glossy screen or LED backlighting or higher resolutions... bummer!
LEDs are still expensive in those sizes. Only the 15" MBP got them, not even the 17" did.
i think i'd like to see a glossy BTO option on the iMacs. i know LED won't be coming out anytime soon for them, but i do like the look of my Macbook's glossy screen. and i wonder how it'd be on an iMac.
To be honest, I can perfectly understand about the LED backlighting, but there's no reason why Apple can't offer BTO options for people who would like higher resolutions and / or glossy screens.
glossy is definitely a possibility imo. higher res is iffy. i don't know what the panels they're using are capable of or what alternatives are out there of similar quality.
I can envisage a glossy option coming to the iMac, yes
How many desktop displays are there with gloss? I haven't seen a whole lot. It seems a lot less necessary, considering how bright desktop screens are, and how they're used essentially in a single fixed location.
Price - the larger the amount of the same panels they buy, the cheaper they are...
I hope the new iMac looks something like this:
I don't think Apple is in the habit of copying HP...
But not if the new iMac has an interface like this:
Problem is that the iMac isn't meant to be that much of a BTO line, choose you size, RAM, HDD, and video. I don't see them offering glossy and matte options. When they went Core 2 and the 24" came out last year they were brighter.
Interesting how it manages to not look ugly when you view it directly head-on.
I hope they stay away from glossy screens in the iMac line
