Apple already added Haptic Touch to enable responding on lock screen in iOS 12.1, further increasing its functionality. Any chance they add Haptic Touch to enable app shortcuts in much the way 3D Touch does? This is quite frankly one of the most useful functions of 3D Touch. Eventually I would love to see a peek and pop style of implementation.

iPhone Any chance iOS 12.2 brings Haptic Touch shortcuts inside apps for iPhone XR?

No reason they couldn’t in theory - tap and hold for the shortcut, hold for a fraction longer to get the wiggly delete option.
Something like that might be a bit too confusing for the typical user, so it's hard to say if they would go for something of that sort.
