This is getting quite ridiculous.......

Guess what peeps, it's not going to happen, so you should just add it to the list of things you wish Apple would make along with the "mid-sized tower" or "headless iMac".

If you desperately want the most bang for your buck, just get the damn PC and quit trying to compare them. Don't want to use Windows? well then hackintosh it... you get your awesome specs along with your a$$ ugly 9 LBS machine.

Apple's pricing isn't based solely on specs, there is a lot of design behind it too, and yes i don't mind paying more for looks. it just adds to the overall package.

On another note, it would be advertising hell to increase the casing of the notebook.

So why not just rename the current "Macbook Pro" lineup to the high-end part of the Macbook Air lineup? And the new "Pro" lineup can be one that is thicker and actually packs power.

Also, I really don't wish to take the time, effort, or risk to build a hackintosh. I'm not that kind of person. I'd prefer to buy a powerful machine that runs OS X ready-made. As such, I will continue to hope and wait that Apple will release a machine that caters to my needs.

So how is the current gen (not even considering the next gen) MBP's not powerful enough for you? Because it won't play Crysis on high? Even dual SLi nVidia 280's won't play it very good at high resolutions.

Apple has always been a generation or two behind on graphics cards, So if history is any indication of the future, Id say keep on hoping but i wouldn't bother waiting because it's just not going to happen.

As long as we aren't talking about ridiculously far off future tech (Quantum computing and the like), Apple will never make a thicker notebook. I realize how strong of a word "never" is, but it's true. It would be marketing suicide to do so. If Steve Jobs stood up on stage with a 1.5in, 8 pound "extreme" (ha) notebook you may cheer, but the only thing the press would say is: "It's heavier then their old ones, it's thicker then the old ones, it's got vents on the sides to keep it cool, and it has worse battery life. Where did Apple's engineers go? Someone wake up Steve and tell him they made a PC."

They can't regress. They won't regress. The laptops they make currently are powerful enough to drive software that "pros" use, and for Apple that suits them fine. They want you to play games on your iPod Touch. Steve seems to understand how entrenched the PC gaming market is; just look at its name.

They've got the best looking, thinnest laptops that run the apps that their customers use. They stand on in the market, a key reason why they can charge so much more. Mac gamers may exist, but Apple doesn't care about you. They'd attempt to fix their pitiful implementation of OpenGL if they did.

Perhaps gamers who also like OS X, and want it all on one machine, would need a MBP?

We do exist, you know.

Pro means Professional, as in using a laptop to facilitate making money. Unless you're a game tester, I'm assuming you don't make money playing games?

I'm more concerned with stable, reliable video, not gaming performance. Why? Because I use a laptop for work. I need the graphics to be stable 99.999% of the time, which Quadros are. They are just higher quality cards.
