I believe this was a Big Sur change - but there used to be a dedicated delete button (instead of the Options drop down) on the mail notifications. Still maddening to this day, did my Apple Feedback make any difference in Ventura?

Yes it did return!

I believe that hasn't changed - prior to Big Sur, you didn't have to hit the Options drop down. Hovering over the notification would give a delete and reply button, if I recall.

If you use archive instead of delete, does the option have archive instead?

Also, what direction do you swipe for swipe to delete/archive within the mail app? It’s currently opposite the direction you swipe on the iPhone and iPad and it’s the most annoying thing…

just has REPLY, MARK AS READ, and DELETE sadly. I'll check if using multiple fingers allows for more options.

The Big Sur notification buttons change is so stupid. Either "More Options" shows you Delete or Mark as Read, or the drop down menu shows Delete or Mark as Read. Two buttons to access the same options. Why couldn't they have left it like it is in Mojave where the buttons are the two options you'd have gotten anyway?

The mail notification style hasn't changed and hence is still badly designed.

You still need to click to open the drop-down then select delete. For me this has always been hit and miss, and sometimes I must not click accurately enough on "options", and the mail opens.

To be fair to Apple, I think their reasoning stems from how people choose to delete emails.

They may believe that the majority of emails a user receives are going to have some level of importance and therefore won’t need to be deleted immediately, and further that it would take more than a few lines of the message to know whether it needs deleting or not.

But as we all know, this doesn’t take into account marketing emails etc. I think having the option to change the buttons would solve it.
