I think I am fine with basic 30 inch 4k iMac for 3k.

5k for top model seems fine too

We had this discussion a couple of weeks ago. I don't believe that Apple is ready to go Retina on the iMac. Two reasons I see:

• Cost
• Graphics performance could be a challenge

I guess a Retina iMac is coming, but not this year..

Dell has a 28" 4k display for $800 right now... Apple could easily use the panel.
