I'll share my knowledge of cigars. ;)

The Romeo and Juilieta have gorgeous cigar boxes! :p I think cigars look sexy when a man smokes them, I don't like the smell while it's burning... but I love, love, love the lingering smell of cigars in clothing/ cars/ etc. Mmm. I think it smells very manly and sensual.

Thankfully, my wife loves the scent of cigars also. She's been known to take a few puffs of mine and, on the very rare occassion, smoke one of her own. we have some great pics of us in rome smoking some mighty fine stogies.

as for manly and sensual-i need all the help i can get...;)

Here's a photo from a fun night.

Note: The captain black's are not mine. The half smoked cigar on the ashtray was mine. That kind of Absinthe is yummy.

I've always wanted to try Absinthe. It isnt sold in the US is it? I was always under the impression that you have to have it shipped from Europe.

It is illegal... my bf brought one bottle back from Amsterdam but his younger brother and his friends drank it all. Phooey. I'd like to try some of the magical stuff that has inspired some of the greatest creative minds... ;)

You can buy it at the local liquor store in Quebec and Ontario too I think. Although the bottle I bought I got in Quebec did not taste as good, but it was a different brand. The bottle I bought in Quebec was Hill's Absinthe. Still 70%, but not as pleasant to shoot.

It is illegal to SELL, possesing it is perfectly legal. You can actually buy it through the mail or over the internet from any other country. There is no problem bringing it over the boarder.

Ontop of that, unless you get the orginal stuff (I can't think of the name off hand), it's worthless. Just do a real drug instead.

BEN

From what I've read/been told it is merely a very high alcohol content liquor... The last time I checked alcohol is a drug. Besides, I didn't say anything about me going all crazy-- I've simply never tasted/tried absinthe before. And like I said, my bf did bring it back into the States, so yes, I am aware that one can end up possessing it.

I got asthma just looking at that.

With Absinthe it's not just the alcohol content. Traditionally the manufacture of the stuff involved leaving wormwood and cetain herbs in the liquid, which gave it its distinctive green colour. The wormwood also gave absinthe its haluconeogenic properties.

These days though most absinthe doesn't use the wormwood anymore. So Absinthe is just a really strong alcohol. However the original good stuff is still made in the Czech republic. (if you fancy seeing fairies and pink elephants :) )You can normally tell which stuff is made by the original method because it has a more yellow-green colour as opposed to the more bright-chemical green of the stuff without the wormwood.

Best way to drink absinthe is to pour it into a glass over a sugar cube held in a slotted spoon. then light the sugar. the absinthe that's been absorbed by the sugar will burn and melt the sugar into the liquor. then stir and knock it back. :) Or you can just knock it back :)

Aren't you supposed to throw in a shot of water after you mix in the flaming sugar?

I've never done that, not seen it done like that either, but then it's not something i do regularly :) so yeh i'm sure some people do it like that.

Seems almost a waste to dillute it :p

i am a fan of good wine and a local restaurant sometimes hosts a 4 wine, 4 cigar, full course dinner for a reasonable fee...though i have tried a cigar about a half a dozen times in my life, i have never tried it with any form of alcohol, or dinner

My everyday cigar is a Partagas naturales, and RYJ Cederos #5. On special occasions, it's cuban Partagas Limited Reserve. I have a few cuban RyJ from too, i think they're #2, not sure anymore. My buddy travels alot for work and we usually split boxes.

cohibas are over rated, imho.
