I have a brand new iPhone 6S+ and I want my pictures, applications and messages transferred over to the new iPhone but I think I've read somewhere that it's always better to "Set Up as New iPhone" instead.

So I'm wondering, are there any cons into setting up the new iPhone by restoring from previous backup?

Thanks.

If you want to reinstall everything as in make a clone of your present iPhone, make sure you use iTunes and tick the box marked Encrypted.

Noob question but Why would I need to tick the box encrypted?

Thanks.

As I said Encrypted has the ability to take EVERYTHING from your previous device including passwords and all. As such it is encrypted not just by name but does just that.

Oh Ok! That makes sense. Didn't know that. Thanks!

I don't set up as new and restore from backup every time. No problems at all. The encrypted iTunes backup option is the only way that health data will be carried to new phone. (iCloud backup is encrypted anyway)
