Who gives a crap about being a demi; those people in their little section must be talking crap about nothing all day. I bet it's a waste of money.

I mean, unless you're some kind of post whore that gets your kicks from watching your processor status increase, I don't see much point in it.

That hurts to hear. :(

These people like to left anonymous. I guess they are just being humble. :) Who cares anyway, I'm sure they have their reasons for not being named as a Demi.
Or because they like to lurk around without being seen. Private is never really private on the internet.

I always wondered what the punishment would be for such traitors...

There was at least one incident of douchebaggery with a demi spilling (actually somewhat personal/private) information and did so very rudely. Then afterwards he threw his toys/vases/whatever and ran off but he came back to MR unfortunately eventually. So it doesn't seem there is a punishment, but those who remember it probably don't think very highly of this individual. Incidentally, he was a stealth, IIRC.

Interesting comments for sure.

Like I said, I wanted more to see what people thought, as I had a curiosity on the subject. IMO, I could care less, but wanted to see if some members cared whether or not the possessed a different title (post count aside).

Good stuff Rumorers! :D

Part of it I think has to do with plain ol' preference and part to do with the stigma... people even tend to make assumptions about users solely based on their join date which actually has no relevance to their knowledge about Macs. Same thing with titles...

It's kinda like what people used to say when I played World of Warcraft...

"If you play more than me you have no life and if you play less than me you must be a loser."

So some people prefer to support the site but appear to be a "normal" user because well... we're all normal users but some elevate certain titles to a higher status. Everybody makes mistakes...

(except me)

~snip~ Then afterwards he threw his toys/vases/whatever and ran off but he came back to MR unfortunately eventually. ~snip~

Hmm. So the demis are capable of acting like actual demigods of old, complete with ill-tempered bolt-throwing trantrums. So refreshing. :D

I was starting to think they were consigned to a gated community with manicured lawns, roof tiles all of a size and color, plus rules about decibel levels for audio output... McMansion Expansion Hell with a lid on it.

Can't even comment, my mind is spinning like a top. LOL (I guess)

Oh yeah! :D

More like the Cheers pub with some overgrown grass outside and a lot of riffraff mingling about.

Basically, we use stealth demis for our black ops. Assassination, sabotage, espionage, kidnap – there's nothing they won't turn their nefarious hand to. As such, it's little wonder their identities are closely guarded secrets.

If you look carefully though, you can occasionally spot one. As an example, here's a picture taken at last year's London Picnic showing one of the stealth demis assigned to security detail...

You guys/gals are correct, the dark side is totally stealth! ;)

Here's the master listing of all demis...

There is a pretty quick way to find out if somebody is a demi or not. All you have to do is ▓▓▓▓▓ ▓▓▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ and voila!

I like it! This is the most light-hearted thread I have seen in a while... no bickering or arguing, just a bunch of stealth demis getting along! :p

Right, I tried that and all that happened was my calico cat got out a broom and flew upstairs on it. Next suggestion?

All I see is some squares where the text goes. But I could even read the private forum or the moderator forum if I had ▓▓▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓▓▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓▓ ▓▓▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓. I also could see anything the forum stores about anybody with this info. Even their passwords. I could see any IP they had ever posted from. I could even make arn a normal member and then me an admin.

Yeah, so? That and 15c would get you on the NYC subway in 1965. :p
