So it seems like my new Blackbook is running very hot and the fan NEVER goes above 1800 rpm unless I run SMC fan control and manually increase rpms. Anybody else have this problem? Is it well documented, or this just a freak incident? Thanks!

Any Documented MB Fan Problems?

Apple replaced the motherboard in my MacBook Pro, because of the heat issue. Which may be related to your MB heat problem.

In addition to the motherboard replacement, I added Fan Control, great little program.

I also bought a laptop stand with a built in fan. Never had a heat problem since.

I have fan control too, but I'd prefer to have the fan kick on automatically when the computer gets hot. Having to do it manually isn't that fun.

I have no Cooling software on my Macbook and it cools down fast when they kick in. What model do you have and what's the temperature Readings.

I have a brand new SR Blackbook.

Readings are:

CPU A: 51
Heatsink A: 47
Heatsink B: 47
Enclosure Bottom: 25
Northbridge 1: 44
Airport Card: 61
Mem Bank A1: 42
Mac HD: 33

My fan never goes above 1800 RPM unless I make it through SMC Fan Control. When does yours typically kick in Tech Guy?

My Cpu is at 45 degrees and its at 1803 Rpm's However it will rev up when it gets around say 55 degrees. Maybe you should call apple.

I hac smc on mine but I just let my macbook ramp up the fan speed auto. It starts to ramp up around 60c.

Isn't that AirPort card running hot though? I mean, 61 c is pretty toasty, is that normal?

My airport card is at 63c right now. Which is ok. My macbook cpu sits around 45c with just web surffing. Doing the same work load on my macbook pro is around 55c. I anything I find the new macbooks to run cool. The cpu is good till 100c.
