Any free alternative to MyWi?

How well does TetherMe work? Is it the same as commcenter hacking?

I like Miwi...except for it destroys battery life, and heats up the phone quite a bit.

Turn on MyWi and then put your iPhone to sleep, MyWi will still work and battery life will be amazing.

I used it this past Saturday for a few hours and was pleasantly surprised!

Trying to purchase MyWi but it won't let me

I log in and select pay with my amazon account and it just sits there saying Loading and won't get past that. I have rebooted my phone and tried again but the same thing.

if the device youre using has bluetooth...then tetherme is a good alternative...has worked great for me.

My main uses would be my Macbook Pro or my iPad. I tried PDANet and so far so good...

Also to clear my reasoning about not buying MyWi. $20 is not a lot of money per se but I have issues spending that much on a jailbreak application due to how flaky the whole JB scene can be. I can't always be sure I will be able to use MyWi or it will be supported. Silly reasons I know but that is my honest standing on the situation.

As I understand it, TetherMe is effectively CommCenter hacking in a nice little Cydia package.

CommCenter hack is really quite simple, and what I've used throguh OS 4.x
