I'd like to be more proactive about monitoring my hard drives (internal and external) for impending failure. Is there any good freeware, or inexpensive software, to monitor my S.M.A.R.T. drives? Can Disk Utility do this?

I have the previous version of Disk Warrior, but an disinclined to pay $50 for the upgrade to version 4.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using Onyx, it checks the S.M.A.R.T. status of your disk among other things, and it's a free app :apple:

DiskWarrior is a great value. Does SMART monitoring on a scheduled basis and can email you when a drive seems bad.

SmartReporter. Nice and simple... Runs from your menubar (so it's always directly visible) polling the drives every hour or so for their S.M.A.R.T. status.
If anything's amiss the icon changes colour to attract your attention. It's a free application (it's donation-ware).
