I know the hot new upcoming iPhone 8 is getting all the rumors news, and major topic of discussion. But I might be one of the few curious about the iPhone 7S Plus. I feel the iPhone 8 will be near impossible to get for a few months, and the battery in it will be smaller than the current 7 Plus, not saying it will have poor battery life, I know with the more efficient processor it will probably be better, but I want to know more about the 7S Plus.

- Design of the iPhone 7S Plus ? Exact duplicate of the current 7 Plus ? Or slightly different ? I thought I read it will be made of different materials, glass back to allow for wireless charging ? Apple is said that all three new iPhone's this Fall will have wireless charging built in. Will the bezels be the exact same on the 7S vs the 7 ? Or will they be shrunk down a hair ?

- Home button ? Same as on the 7, or will it be fully captive, like the HTC 10 and OnePlus phones ?

- Battery size? Wondering if they'll squeeze in a slightly larger battery ? Or keep the same size as the current 7 Plus, but the new chipset being more efficient will help make it better ?

- Waterproof still there on the 7S ? or bette5r with IP68 ?

I haven't seen/heard anything.

Most valid leaks and rumors generally revolve around new aesthetics (e.g. body styles, sizes, shells, etc.) It stands to reason that rumors and leaks are scant on the 7S (and plus) because the aesthetics are supposedly staying the same.

Just my .02.

The only rumors I have read was that it will retain the aluminum casing and will not have wireless charging capabilities (A glass Backing would be needed for wireless) . It's also been speculated that Touch ID could be relocated to the back or the 7s, creating a more display area. While the larger 5.8 model will have Touch ID directly embedded in the display.

I imagine the water resistance will be improved on the 7s.

I know I read something very recently this week, saying the 7S line will have glass panels to allow for wireless charging. But that was a rumor, not confirmed.

And I haven't heard anything on the home button for the 7S line. Rumors say it stays, other rumors saying it's moved to back.

Not many good rumors as no one is really paying attention to the 7S and 7S+.

But from the past I would say they will be exactly like the 7 and 7+ with an updated processor.

iOS11 will be the biggie and I look forward to it.

Curious if the iPhone 7S Plus will be the battery champ iPhone this year ? I know the small 7S will be average battery life, and the special edition iPhone 8 will have a pretty beefy size battery in it, but not quite Plus size battery, so wondering if the 7S Plus will have the largest battery, and coupled with the new processor most likely being more efficient, it will give the best battery life of the three new iPhone's this year ?

I heard it will include dark mode :D

As for design, the S version has always followed the non- S version. The 8 is getting completely redesign. Apple won't hv the time to release 2 new design on the same year. Takes time to produce new design and vendors are already overwhelmed to make the 8 ready in time.

I've been looking for camera rumors... If they can widen the 2.8 aperture in the 56mm to 2.0, I'd probably buy it.

Does it make a big difference?

Actually yes it does.

IP68 can truly be dropped in the deep end of a pool, and be totally fine. Or take the phone to the beach, and not worry about the dust and grit.

With IP67 it's not rated to handle the above, just slight water and slight dust.

First digit - 6 Complete protection against dust
Second digit - 7 Minor Protection against effects from quick immersion in liquids between 15 cm and 1 m in depth
Second digit - 8 Protection against long immersion periods and water pressure

Umm that's where my question was going...Do you have any real use case that need the phone to handle long immersion periods?

At least one killer feature, 3D touch with 6S. TouchID with 5S.
I dont believe wireless charging is enough, it doesnt change the experience when using the phone.

I said in another thread - I don't think there will be a 7s or a 7s plus. I think September will just be a launch of the iPhone 8, breaking the tick-tock cycle. It would make the 7 the first iPhone since the original not to have an s variant, but in reality we all know the 7 was a glorified 6ss.

From a pure logistics point of view, look at the supply issues just the incremental upgrade that was the 7 experienced. Full and immediate availability across the range didn't happen until late November. I just cannot see Apple clogging the production lines with three new models. Add to that, the 6-series design is tired and beginning to look dated. The 8 is expected to have a screen size very similar to the 7plus and the market for anything larger isn't substantial enough. Finally, imagine the mess of available products. A new iPhone 8, a new iPhone 7 and 7s plus - and assuming they maintained the current tradition of dropping last years model in price, also the 7 and 7plus.

I think the lineup come September will be the iPhone 8 as this years model with the existing, unchanged 7 remaining on sale as the slightly cheaper option. It wouldn't even surprise me if the 7plus was discontinued in order to boost sales of the 8 for those wanting a larger display.

Interesting theory, but there have been parts leaks for the 7S and 7S Plus.

And it has been said the iPhone 8 will have limited supply at launch. Not nearly enough to handle the demand. So having a new 7S Plus will help alleviate the pain. An Apple fan maybe wanting the 8, but can't get one, will be somewhat satisfied at still getting a new updated iPhone in the 7S, as opposed to just keeping their current old phone

I want the 8 and if it proves difficult to get hold of, no way I'd spend hundreds of pounds on a much much lesser model. I'd rather keep my 7+ until one becomes available.

I meant people with older phones, like I know tons of people still rocking an iPhone 4S, or iPhone 5 today. These are successful people that can easily afford to pay outright in full for a new iPhone, but they are the type of people if it ain't broke, they keep it till it dies.

So lets say their phones die this Fall. And the iPhone 8 isn't available to purchase due to out of stock, those people will surely then grab the 7S and be happy about it. A 7S is still a big upgrade over an old 4S.

I just don't really see what there is to add to the 7. It's already effectively the third model in the iPhone 6 series so it's pretty refined. Plus, it'd get a price drop as it would be selling as last years model.

I'm perfectly prepared to be completely wrong in my theory, but I just see the whole three new iPhones lineup being a convoluted mess - imagine a 7s and 7s Plus in five colour options and three storage options launching alongside a completely new redesign. People would expect the redesigned model to also come in the full colour range - and I think we're looking at any colour we like as long as it's black or white for the iPhone 8.

Gut feeling just tells me that early September will see Apple unveil one, and only one, new iPhone.
