I download Aquisition and wasn't impressed, so I'm not going to pay for that program. Are there any good and free alternatives for P2P on OS X?

Also, is there a good DC/DC++ (direct connect) client for OS X?

Thanks,
Bryan

I think we are allowed to discuss P2P because it does not directly refer to piracy, it's just file sharing, could be anything from word documents to photo's of a family.

LimeWire's the best, if you ask me.
I have to totally disagree. By far Acquisition is the best.

Of course you are looking for free, which Acq. is not, but it is well worth it cause it is so good.

i have acquisistion and i think its is the greatest app since itunes...and i'm not kidding, i love it that much.

what is it that you don't like about it? cause i'd never even consider using anything else

Xfactor is better program than limewire... but connects to the limewire networks.
Its a freeware program, but its asks you for a donation every 30 min as a popup window.
Aquisition and poisoned work well to: they connect to the other p2p networks like gnutella & a few others.

I agree on Limewire. Plus they have a great feature that tells you if there is a CC license (or equivalent) for the file or not, so you know whether it's legal to download or not.

For bittorrent, I like Azerus; it is a great, stable, easy program.

There's no problem per se with discussing P2P software as long as the conversation doesn't veer into illegal territory.

the program is pretty ugly and not very intuitive. i have to double click what's new before i can do a search for what i actually want. doesn't make sense to me.

When you say DC/DC++ do you mean like on an IRC client, or similar to a hotline? There are several free IRC clients for mac (where you could access channels with bots) and a couple hotline clients. The only hotline app for osx I've heard of was carracho something.

No, he means DC or DC++ hubs. They're a form of P2P all on their own. Although I personally prefer IRC to an extent and like Colloquy for that purpose.

And people please stop automatically jumping directly to file sharing topics being related to pirating of software... I use them plenty for perfectly legal activities and I know many others do as well. Just talk about what's been asked and don't make assumptions and risk getting a tread locked and/or deleted, please.

I truely LOVE this forum, but like many others i am so sick and tired of all the THATS ILLEGAL NAZIS when they have no basis to start tearing people apart regarding DL content.... the OP never once referred to what he wanted to DL.

There is TONS of stuff that can be traded on P2P networks that is perfectly legal non copyrighted content.... unless someone specifically says they are DL illegal content i suggest you leave it be and quit acting like children....;)

i for one dont condone piracy, but i dont search threads just to jump all over people that i think "might" be doing something wrong....

Best FREE P2P app?

Acquisition 2 is nice but the limitations of the free version is killing me!

Anyone have any good tips on any other free ones?
