Down south
I wasn't really interested in these, but reading the threads about how cool they are in the hot weather is making me rethink. I live in Louisiana, and am about to make a Disney trip in the September heat! I'll be wearing my watch AND a magic band, so maybe a cooler band would be the ticket.

I'd like a good quality knockoff in a solid color (I don't like when there are multiple colors woven together). Any suggestions?

I have to ask... will you change your watch face to Mickey or Minnie (os3 beta) while visiting Disney?

Well it's already Mickey, and I'm hoping OS3 will be ready for downloading before my trip! I'm a Disney travel agent, so the Mickey on the face was a must from day 1 (plus my grandkids love it).

You might already know but with OS3 when you tap Mickey, he tells you the time. Minnie does as well.

As for the band, I would hit Amazon and shop based on color. The 3rd party bands are to the point that each I have owned have been fine. I'm wearing a $10 sport band that is 95% as good as an original. Its a hair thinner but that won't make any difference for the amount of time/money spent. Just look at ratings.

Side note: We ordered from a place in the UK magic band vinyl "sticker" covers. Basically decals that are the same size as the magic bands. Made the magic bands a little more fun and different.

I know, and I am ready to download it NOW!!! I hate how they make us wait for things!

And thanks for the tip on the bands. I ordered one nylon in the pearl color to try (thinking lighter might be cooler when it's 90 and humid out). I bought one 3rd party sport band (turquoise since Apple isn't making it anymore), but I got on eBay and bought used Apple sport bands for $15-18 each and so far all have been in nearly new condition in the boxes. I bought 7 and spent a little over $100 for all of them. I was happy with that since some of the 3rd party ones are $12-15 anyway. I'd still like an Apple band in turquoise, but I'm having no luck.

Havent seen any good quality nylon knockoffs yet. Ordered one in white and it was terrible.

I just got back from 10 days in Okinawa, Japan. It makes Louisiana and Florida heat/humidy seem like a nice spring day. I've been wearing the black nylon band on my 42mm Space Gray Sport, and it's been great in hot/humid weather. The band is lightweight but strong, and breathes much better than the fluoroelastomer sport bands. In addition, it is easy to clean. I simply wet the band, put a drop of liquid hand soap on my hands and lather up the nylon material. Rinse and dry and you are good to go.

As for knockoffs, several members have purchased from this Amazon seller but I have no direct experience with the quality.

Any fraying issues with your OEM version? I had the black nylon, but the sides started fraying (just very lightly) only after 2 weeks so I sadly returned it :(

Just took a close look..... No, no fraying on either of my black nylon band or my wife's pink nylon band (both original Apple bands, btw) after about 3 months. The material has formed to the curve of my wrist and the buckle, but that's all.

Thanks! That's encouraging because it's an awesome band.

I'm tempted... but if the dude can't even use his own photos (those are the photos from the Apple website), how trustworthy can he be?

Well the knockoff I purchased was AWFUL! I don't know if it's indicative at ALL of what the Apple nylon ones are like, but if so I don't want one.

I think I'll head into Apple today and look at theirs in person to see what I think before I try another knockoff.

What was so bad about the knockoff? I have an OEM nylon band and I love it.

Which knockoff did you try?
