Guys - how is the google voice experience on iphone compared to android?

Also, have you folks found any app that allows you to set some contacts that automatically bypass google voice while all other calls use it? On android, it's called 'Voice choice plus 2.0' but can't find an equivalent in the IOS world

Thanks

Not as good, I would think. No integration with iOS for making calls. Can make calls via the app or over wifi via Hangouts.

The GV app was just updated on iOS. A couple of improvements in messaging.

There used to be jailbreak tweaks that integrated GV with the iOS phone app. They were nice.

It's a separate stand-alone app basically in iOS. It doesn't really integrate with the dialer or anything like that. You can make calls through it and send/receive messages through it. Incoming calls would just get forwarded to your number essentially more or less as regular calls directly to the number, although you can setup Hangouts to handle Google Voice calls and use that to take/make Google Voice calls (as well as messages, voicemail, etc., if I recall correctly).

I think some providers like Sprint provide some additional Google Voice integration features from their side of things.

I've used GV for 5 years. Despite any flaws, I really like being able to give out my Google number instead of my cell number. Sounds like it's more flexible on Android, tho.

Hangouts works way more reliably on iOS than Android for me. I still use Hangouts because my text history for the past two years or so is on there and it's the only way to make free VoIP calls.

I only use the Google Voice app for calling out with my Google Voice number when I use my RingPlus SIM so I can't comment on how it works for texting, but again, I have a better experience with Hangouts on iOS.

At far as calling certain contacts with your Google Voice number and others with your main number, the only way to call with your Google Voice number is to start the call from the Google Voice app (or place a VoIP call with Hangouts). Any calls initiated from the Phone app, Contacts, or any other app will use your cellular number.

I like it. I been using it for CL transactions in order not to put my real number out there.
It works good and once item is sold I can disable the forwarding and I don't get bothered any more.
You have to use the app to call out, text or listen to voicemails. Calls ring in to your real number and then you can hit 1 to answer or 2 to send to voicemail.
