I got the 10 core because, why not? It's not that much more so I might as well do it.
I did it for the same reason. I wanted the Fast charger so the 10 core was $80 extra. I'd like to think Apple knows what they are doing in regards to providing extra performance for the price.. but after watching some of those reviews it may be that the $80 was a waste for me. If so, that sucks for me but it isn't the end of the world..

My question is a silly one, even with the 10 cores, is there a way to limit how many cores can be used in general application use in case you do want to want to extend battery life? It'd be nice to have that user option to limit to 8 or fewer cores when you're conserving battery life.

Switch on Low Power Mode.

Really don’t think it hurts

It could be one of those extending the life kind of things, hard to say, but why not.
exactly, could help more in the future, doesn’t really hurt battery life just using it in day to day tasks. If you can afford the higher spec than go for it

You might get a few frames more in the announced Resident Evil 4 Remake 🤓

Hell will have truly frozen over if this actually comes to reality.

My god… could you imagine RE Engine native on OSX/Mac?

Give me Street Fighter 6 while your at it Capcom!
