The short answer is that nobody knows. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for more than a month for news of when the MBA might be refreshed and what the nature of the upgrades might be. Unfortunately, there is simply no reliable information available yet. Maybe next Tuesday. :)

They do make a higher res screen. Specifically the same one used on the Lenovo X300/301. Would be nice to have on the MacBook Air without a doubt.

If Apple moves to 16:9 from 16:10, then I can see a small upgrade but otherwise I doubt it, even though I would really want to see it in all Apple laptops

    13" MB, MBP and MBA - 1440x900
    15" MBP - 1680x1050 or 1920x1200
    17" MBP - 1920x1200 or 2304x1440

I would love a resolution upgrade and I am predicting (and have been predicting) that either this or the next MBA update will bring revolution to the display. I expect either an IPS HD display (meaning higher resolution), or 3D, or OLED. The display is the next obvious way to make the Mac notebooks stand out against their competitors. Remember when the MBA was introduced, it had the thinnest case, best LED display, best CPU, most capable GPU, fast RAM, excellent SATA-II SSD, backlit keyboard, and mini display port to drive up to a 30" ACD. No other computer matched on even 25% of those specs. Now, the competition is fierce, and Apple needs to do something radically different to once again have a dominating MBA. I think it will be the display that first finds its way into the MBA then spreads to other Mac notebooks if successful. I don't know if it means 16:9, but I think that's probable. LG is a partner of Apple and it offers 16:9 IPS and OLED displays in the 13/14" variety. Apple has to use its LG partnership to leverage a new tech of some sort. I really like 16:10 myself, but if we can get 1600x900 resolution in an MBA I will be super happy!
