I love you iPhone, I hate your touchscreen keyboard... if new iphone has a real keyboard, ill be the first on line to purchase it.

The fact that you even started this thread tells me that you have absolutely no comprehension of what the iPhone is and the theory of usability and interaction behind it!

A love hate relationship?
But more seriously, after the keynote, why think it's coming? It's akin to saying is there any hope for a stylus on new iPhone?"
(Steve's comment being Styluses? Yuckkkk)

I'd say you have a better chance of seeing the mobile Windows OS running on the next iPhone before you would see it have a plastic keyboard.....

Seeing != working though thank goodness
Edit - oops apologies for double post.

I'm tempted to both say
- Either you're doing it wrong, or the Treo is one hell of a phone... ;)

and also

- The hilarity of sweeping comments...

I don't know about Treos, but you really can do more one-handed with a Blackberry than you can with an iPhone. That didn't stop me from getting an iPhone to replace my BB, but it's still true. The entire interface is designed to enable it. This is a "wheel" BB -- I'm not as sure about the BBs that have the scrollball, because I've never had one.

Hehe. If I said "double entendre" to you, would that change your perspective?

I wouldn't mind the keyboard at all IF there was an option to toggle the predictive text on/off. The thing is, it's great for English, but you see, I'm not in the US or UK (yes, I admit, my iPhone is an unlocked one, not an AT&T one)

and I have to type in another language, and the iPhone keeps "correcting" words that are already correct!

did you go to settings -> general -> international -> keyboards -> then turn on the language that you want. pretty sure this will correct that problem but I don't know any other languages to try it with lol

I'm not sure how you use your iPhone, but I just hold mine with my right hand and use my right thumb to do stuff. but when it comes to multi-touch, then yeah you gotta do it two-handed. but who wants a blackberry? who wants a crappy plastic keyboard? "Who wants a stylus" -SJ

Do most people prefer to do it double handed? Or do they prefer single handed? ...

That depends on how big you are. We are still talking about phones right? ;)

Sure. There might be the odd one or two who use the Dvorak method...

Don't forget we have to think about safety. And safety means hands free, or getting your partner to help out if you're busy...
