I cannot find a 27" iMac LCD screen to save my life. I've even searched by the LG model number and only found one single place.

My brand new 4 month old mid 2010 27" iMac with 3 yrs of AppleCare fell to the ground and killed the LCD screen. i am trying to find a source of a screen, apple wants $700.

Well, It sounds about right for apple. An aftermarket retailer of supposedly OEM LG Apple 27" screens has it for $670 so it does go lower. Looking for all options.

Thank ya, those are the only other retailer i know of. I had found a screen in australia for $450, but got there too late (bnib on eBay, Singapore).

I'm currently on a 27" external through hdmi/mini-dvi. Just not the same experience......

thats the downside of that big screen... it is expensive , but once you got it fixed , think about to get something like that http://www.pclocks.com/customcomputerlocks/imac-lock-high-security.html i said think about it ;)
then you can tilt the display without the chance of it falling of the desk and as a side effect you can turn it for easy access to the ports without a chance of falling of your desk , because thats the main reasons for iMac's fall , users want to get to the ports , the other reason is users want to clean their desk or iMac's outside and higher (bigger) iMac's lose balance easier then the smaller ones, one reason i did suggest in other posts to put the harddrive in the chin as so far there are mainly speakers and a fan which have no weight at all so the most weight is at the top at the moment and the elegant foot is not really big , compared to the oversized things you find on TV's of that size for example

Look for someone parting one out on Ebay.

I plan on parting out my perfectly functioning 2009 iMac 24" when the new ones come out.

I agree about the larger iMacs needing more stability. Applecare should cover this just ONE time for 27" owners because they are very tipsy. Look at the size comparison beside my 40" Bravia.

i think apple has never thought that someone would physically touch the iMac , because it has no touchscreen
what they did not took intio consideration is that people need to touch it at very least if they want to connect anything to the ports on the back , but as most have it on their desk on the other end most need to turn it to even access the ports and bang the iMac tips over

so ideally as nobody wants a foot as wide as the iMac itself apple should have made the foot at least double as wide as the on the 21.5 " then you could rest the keyboard on there and the foot would not look to oversized , but apple is all about looks so most might find a bigger foot disturbing

just might thought as i was just in PC world getting some harddrive , and looked at it and it really is a accident waiting to happen as it takes really not much force to bring it out of balance as i tried to connect a usb pen drive in the far right usb port turning it a bit around and pushing the iMac so the display tilts a bit forward like you do if you adjust the angle if you know what i mean ..and i really think if i would like to wipe it clean on the back turning it around , one second inattention and it is lying on its display
the stand of the iMac 27" in relation to the 21.5 " stand is not really much wider and on my iMac 17" the stand looks massive in comparison (cant bring my iMac 17" out of balance all it does is turning if you push it around even if you try to tip it over you have to do that on purpose

i mean whats better a wider and heavier foot or a iMac on the floor with broken display

so yes i agree that is a design flaw and should be covered at least the first time

i just remember a mockup from 2007 before the first iMac aluminium was released

looked far more stable with space to push the keyboard underneath if not needed

looked a bit like the old ADC cinema display

Mac Parts Online want $777 for a 21.5" panel, the 27" panel is only $670.80...how on earth does that work?!

Let us know how you get on with your search one1 ;)

Well the first thing I did until I find the screen was to buy this Polaroid 32" today and go mini-DVI out to it.

I though the iMac was big, but this thing is HUGE on my desk, LOL.

Took me a bit to get the resolution looking as good as the imac screen does overall, but after some time this ended up being the settings.
