I really loved my Switcheasy Trim for my 4S. I liked the bright colors and the semi-transparent back. I have had three Switcheasy cases and liked them all, but I'm not crazy about any of their iPhone 5 cases.

I just got my 5 on Saturday (a white one) and have a Tech21 case that should get here tomorrow. It's the Impact Mesh (pink), but I'd like to have a second case to change it up sometimes (I lead a boring life, lol)

Anybody see anything that reminds them of the Switcheasy Trim? I really wish Switcheasy also made it for the iPhone 5.

Right now, the ones in the running for a second case (if I can't find something similar to the Trim) include: Tech21 impact band, Belkin grip candy sheer, Case-mate glam, Musubo Diamond, and Spigen Neo Hybrid Ex Slim Metal Dante red.

Hi Erin. At The Wirecutter, our researcher spent 25 hours trying to find the best iPhone 5 case and discovered that the button cover on the Belkin Grip Candy Sheer became less responsive after extended use. Based on the research, he chose the SwitchEasy Tone because it's durable, slim, handles drops well and didn’t present any functionality issues over time like the Belkin. So it might be a great pick for a secondary case.

I happen to own the Belkin Grip Candy Sheer, and I disagree. I never had any problems with the sleep/wake button at all. It's also slimmer than the SwitchEasy Tones and waaaay less bulky than the old SwitchEasy Trim.

Also, you forgot to review the Spigen Slim Armor Case, as it's still one of the best cases around.

Thanks for the quick response Guily, I probably should have presented more of our data and research in my first response to Erin.

Alexander George, our researcher, experienced this issue with the sleep/wake button while testing over a period of time and it appears he was not the only one to encounter the problem. Macrumors member Cosmos01 had the same issue here as did some of the Amazon reviewers here and here.

If you haven’t read our guide yet we actually address the Spigen Slim Armor Case. Here’s what Alexander had to say: "The Spigen Slim Armor gives you a lot of case for $20, but it’s heavier than the Tones and slightly thicker all around. The hole for the silent mode switch is very narrow and, because the whole case is thicker than the Tones, is difficult to switch without slim fingers".

Based on your feedback, we also just updated our section on the Belkin to link to outside complaints about the sleep button. Appreciate the conversation.

Frankly, I doubt that your researcher himself would walk around with a case like that on his iPhone. A case is supposed to honor (or in the case of most Android phones: improve) the design of the phone, and not just cover and protect it.
To me, this case is almost blasphemy, and I prefer a home button that a little stiffer every day of the week.
