Going to take advantage of the $29 battery deal though apple? I'm at 90% battery life at the moment and just deciding what to do!

I don’t have a 8/8+, but I do have a launch day X with a battery percentage at 91%. I will be taking advantage of the $29 battery replacement more specifically because I will not have to pay anything to have mine replaced.

I have a launch day plus 2 days 8 (had to return the first one due to a defect) and the battery is near perfect. That being said I am not a power user. I use it for calls, texts, and light web browsing. I rarely get below 60% at the end of the day.

I was under the impression that the battery replacement program was only if your phone actually needed a battery. Why would they replace a battery that's over 90% capacity?

How does that work? Do you have somebody you know that's gonna foot the $29 because I'm pretty sure Apple isn't.

Apple just does it. My did got it done. Under warranty it’s free as a one time thing up till 31st Dec on the discretion of the genius.

i think the official cut off for free battery is like 80%, but i have heard people getting it for free even though their battery hasnt deteriorated to that extent.

I recently took my 8 in for battery replacement, 89%, and they were going to charge me. Then the WiFi antenna broke while they were removing the battery, so I received a new phone and no charge.

No, they will replace it at any percent for $29.

You realize you just said 2 different things? Which one is it? Is it Apple “just does it” or is it the “discretion of the genius”? Just because you got lucky doesn’t mean everyone that goes in with a less than 1 year old phone will have the same luck.

Nope. They will change tour battery for $29 as long as you have the required device.

They will change the battery regardless of its health. Whether or not you pay USD 29 is your luck. But this is only once per device. The next time the USD 29 doesn’t necessarily apply for > 80% health devices.

So would you guys say it’s a good idea for me to change the battery in December? I’m probably going to do it but was wondering if I’m being silly.
