I have the $1449 2.53 uMBP refurb and it's a great machine. Fans crank up pretty high in bootcamp vista when playing games but other than that a very nice machine.

    Cheers,

Loosk like from what I can tell that I can spend about $150 to upgrade to 7200rpm 320gb drive and a 4gb ram kit. So, I guess it boils down to the processor, no ?

    Thanks

The 2.66 also has double the graphics memory, I would say go for the 2.66, as it's only $350 more, but you're getting quite a few extra features that you won't need to upgrade at a later date to get.

Yes, and earlier today the 2.8 uMBP was the same price $1699 but they're all gone now. :( My coworker waited too long for the 2.53 and then he tried to get the 2.8 and missed it. Won't be long until they exhaust those prior uMBP systems.

    Cheers,

If you could swing the $1699 for the 2.66, you'd gain a faster processor, larger hard drive, combo graphics, and higher RAM potential.

In my opinion, the 2.66 would have a higher resale value too.....

Do they ever come back in stock, or generally, once they are gone - they're gone? I sat too long on the 2.8 uMBP in my cart, and was too late.

It's very hit and miss, you could be waiting a long time, or they could pop up tomorrow, I'd suggest checking the store daily and ordering as soon as the model you're after pops up.

I agree; however, refurbs are replenished regularly, and as long as you keep your eyes open, you should manaage to get one. The MBP is a terrific computer, I have one and it is easily the best computer I have ever had.

    Cheers and good luck

the ONLY problem with refurb products is apple stores can't CRU them out for you because the part numbers arn't in their system. That's why it's taken 3 weeks for my mac pro to get replaced.

The 2.4 has both the 9600 and 9400 graphics cards, too. Otherwise, yeah.

Right, 512 instead of 256. Okay, other than THAT, what have the Romans ever done for us?
