I see a lot of talk about the 16 pro model, but not a lot for the standard 16.

I went from a 12 mini to a 16 pro, but I just couldn't get on with the weight. Feels way too heavy and cumbersome in my hands. I returned it.

I'm now considering the standard 16.

Are any of you loving it? How does it feel in the hand compared to the pro?

It always seems to be the case on here that the Pro models get the most attention but I suppose it is an enthusiasts site the vocal minority talk about the top end stuff, even if its likely the majority of members probably use the standard iPhone or older models. I like the standard iPhone 16 in black, that looks like a really sleek design. Apart from the 120hz making a slight difference to some (not me), and the added camera, its 80% of the same phone as the Pro. I think the OP will notice a huge improvement over a 12 Mini. Unfortuntely I have not seen one in the flesh, but it'll be lighter and easier the carry to a varying degree.

It’s a great phone. 60hz is unacceptable for this price point in 2024, but it is what it is.
There was a thread on here about how 120hz and always on display are not ‘Pro’ features, so apple shouldn’t be doing this and I completely agree.

The build quality and the pro camera features should be enough to separate the 2 devices but apple still seem to go down this path.

Anyway, my main device is a Pixel 9 Pro and I also got a regular iPhone 16 on launch in Ultramarine. It’s a great phone. The size, weight and hand feel is superb. You get great battery life plus all the same things the Pro has minus a telephoto and the above mentioned “features”.

Been really pleased with mine and the colour and design is better than what the Pro offers, IMO. The Pro line up is so sterile and boring and has looked the same for 4 years.

Seems like you won't regret it, between the fun blue colour, the lighter weight and the excellent battery life.

That's cool, although I would either go with Teil, white or black.

Using it now and loving it. Black 16.
How does it feel in the hand, compared to say the 12 mini, 16 pro, or any other iPhone that you've owned? Does it feel big and heavy? or light and well balanced?

It feels great. I went from 13 Mini to 14 Pro to 15 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max to 16 and it feels the best. Super light, compact, disappears into your pocket which is what I wanted. And looks beautiful in black. Like a stealthy Batman look which I really like. Using it caseless.

I was going to make a similar post. Seems all the love has gone to the pro models.

I went from 14 Pro the base 16 and couldn’t be happier (I’m still trying to sell the Pro…there’s a thread in marketplace for it).

in the 2 years I had the 14 Pro I was never fully comfortable with its heft. coming from the 12 and 13 minis before that, it was a literal brick and never got any lighter. it weighed down my pockets and felt i was fighting gravity whenever i picked it up.

the regular 16 feels so good to hold. my hand doesnt get fatigued anymore, and there have already been times in the last week where i forgot it was in my pocket.

not to mention, the Pros are just overkill for most people now. i don't need all the A/V features. i take pics of my kids, dog and things to show the guy at home depot that i need a part for. i'm not filming 120K music videos for the Weekend. instead they’ve become status symbols for the most status-symbol of brands.

so for me, the trade offs going from a Pro to non-Pro have been well worth it and I appreciate Apple making a base model that doesn’t feel watered down.

I love mine, went from a 12 Pro to standard 16 (in white) - excellent phone, great cameras and battery.

My wife got the 16 in Ultramarine (coming from an XR) - possibly one of the nicest colour phones Apple has ever made.

Both very pleased and no regrets.

Upgrade from X🅂 to 16 this year.
Need to say, even Apple Intelligence is not available yet, and won't comes to my region any time soon, but I still need to appreciate, since it brings the best standard iPhone line in the past five years.

which color did you get?

I have the 14 Pro because I love photography, and I'll be going with the 16 Pro as well because of that, but honestly the regular 16 model has received a HUGE update IMO and would be good for the majority of people.

The “standard” iPhones have been great since the 12 IMO. The only thing holding them back is the lack of 120Hz.

Pro Max and Pro models have been the best selling iPhone models for few years now. If anything non pro models are vocal minority. Apple gets most of the revenue from Pro Max followed by Pro.

No love here. Why buy last year's tech at new phone prices? Either buy pricier new tech or buy cheaper used, etc. models. But then I personally do not care about colors or other purely cosmetic things at all.

Just received my iPhone 16 a couple days ago and loving it so far. It even feels lighter than my iPhone 13. (I mean, it is...by only 4 grams, but somehow feels like more.)

I've always gotten the regular models and agree that they deserve some more love. People are always surprised/shocked when they see my regular phone takes photos that look just as good as their Pro.

Unless you're doing ProRAW photography or just have to have ProMotion, the regular model should be fine for you.
