So if I bought a refurb and the RAM elsewhere should I get applecare or will it not be covered?

Applecare will be fine for this machine. RAM is considered user serviceable and therefore does not void Applecare. Some say hard drives are as well, others disagree.

Don't buy from them. They look shady, and you can easily get the same price from newegg or elsewhere. I've upgraded ram in macs from there and OWC (macsales.com) and its all been fine.

Econo ram - most people will say all ram is fine for intel macs. As you can't overclock it you don't have to worry about more expensive gamer ram.

However, RULE OF THUMB: Always get lifetime warrantied ram.

Almost all ram comes with it - and it seems rather shady for it not to. Esp. because at the site you linked to it only saves about $10. Not worth it in my opinion.

odd, that site was recommended by users on this site. i bought it and it's coming tomorrow. i'll post if there are any problems - i went with the lifetime warrantied RAM.
