Getting pretty serious about losing some weight this year. Started tracking all food in with my fitness pal. It is integrated with my watch, and counts all my daily steps, and runs against calories I eat.

Most of my workouts are strength, and cycling though. I use the outdoor cycle, and other workouts to track my calories burned. For whatever reason they will not show up, only my steps are counted.

Has anyone had success inter grating exercise besides running?

Do I need to track the workout in strava then export it?

MyFitnessPal has no problems auto importing all my :apple:Watch workouts from the Health App.

Hmm I wonder were mine is tripping up.

I had 3 different cycling sections, and a brief other workout, and none of them transferred.

If I can get this working then I finally found the killer app that makes the watch worth it.

In the Health App do you have MyFitnessPal Allow Write and Allow Read data cut on under Sources?

Right, this is what I don't understand - why is your step contribution 0? Presumably the activities you did were in addition to some steps?

Mine does the exact same thing ie. the step contribution reduces after other activities are added. It drives me mad.

Not sure why but I disabled and reenabled the my fitness pal, and now the amount of fields in health went way up. Working as it should.

Also received this withings wifi scale from Amazon. This thing ties into health, and my fitness pal. It lets you track your weight, and body fat percentage automatically filling the fields in both apps. If you do a lot of lifting the body fat % is a more important metric then weight. Stoked to try it out over time.

No more excuses

I use an app called Gymaholic. it has pre loaded workouts that you can use or if you're daring like i was i created al my own. it takes some time but its so worth it. The app syncs with the watch so you can check off your sets from the watch and once you finish a workout it syncs the data with the health app and will also send it to my fitness pal to accurately adjust your calories. I have been very satisfied with how both apps sync I actually purchased their $14.99 Gold version of the app...Hope this helps

Once you hit over 10k steps the Steps Calorie Adjustment goes away Basically the Step Calorie Adjustment is the app predicting how many calories you will burn. If you look at the FAQ it explains in detail why they go to zero and how it all works

I believe the only thing that the app can't do is vibrate when the rest timer is up from the watch? Also do you know if the app uses the heart rate monitor that I would have paired via Bluetooth to the watch?

Just want to update that I got everything working in harmony. What a great motivator it is to see your exercise correlating with your calorie intake. Then having the weight auto populate and chart really gets you motivated to run that extra mile, and skip desert.

Run two extra miles and you can have dessert. ;)

(I know it's more complicated than that, but hey…)

Huh? Sorry, that makes no sense to me. If I have earned extra calories through steps, how can my step contribution then go down when I do extra exercise?

Have you a link to that FAQ, I can't see it anywhere?

Do you only use the built in optical heart rate monitor? 'cause that caloric burn is very low for a weight lifting session of 50 minutes. Well, that is if one can trusts apple's workout app in it's estimates for strength training.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm on daily but forget to stay logged in to see notifications. There's a 3.99 and 14.99. The 3.99 gives you a ton of new features. The 14.99 basically gives them a $11 donation towards helping the developers add new features and keep updates regular. I was so impresses after using it a did that one. When I did it the upgrade was 9.99 and the gold was still 14.99. Nice price drop for 3.99. Beyond worth it

This thread is cool! My apple watch arrives today and its main purpose for me was exercise and more. Awesome seeing what people are using. Thanks!

Do people get the MFP step goal notifications? Once I got a 'you are 61% of the way to your step goal' message and that's it - never heard from it again!
