I was waiting for the white one but finally decided to cave in and just get the black one. Anyone know of any stores in the NYC/North Jersey area that have them in stock?

Woodbridge NJ Best Buy had 16GB ones as of 1:30PM but they will only sell them to those with FULL UPGRADES and not "EARLY upgrades." They won't take $399 from you, only $199.

I bought my iPad from the Woodbridge Best Buy. Sucks that they wouldn't honor Early Upgrades. Is this a universal BB practice?

Your best bet is to just call the local stores that are in your area, as it is hit or miss right now, as to who has them in stock or not.

EDIT: How does the bumper program work? If I were to purchase the iphone4 in-store at Best Buy, do they give me a bumper right then and there? Do I have to order one? Can you choose the color? If not, where can I order a white one?

Can I say this: When the 3g first came out, I wanted a black one. They were always sold out of black and I finally relented and bought white. EVERY SINGLE DAY I had to carry around that ugly white POS, I regretted it and wished I'd waited to get exactly what I wanted.
I'm not commenting on white -vs- black, just on the fact that you should hold out for what you really want.
They are done taking reservations but not done filling them. What you saw were most likely iPhones waiting to be picked up.

Apple stores have NO bumpers for sale. Only walmart has the apple bumpers that you have to pay for.
