Hi All,

I have an M1Max MBP16 operating under MacOS 26.4.1, a newly purchased Calibrite Display Plus Monitor HL and am attempting to calibrate the display on the M1Max MBP16 with custom reference profile (Photography P3-D65) using Apple Pro Display Calibrator. Unfortunately, I get one of two display calibration failures:
  1. After completing the sequence of colors, the display flashes a small with box, then goes dark and locks up the computer forcing me to reboot, or
  2. After completing the sequence of colors, calibration fails at validation and no changes are made to the custom reference profile.
I have tried the following. Un-installed previously installing x-Rite software by not only removing the applications but going through the libraries and removing all files related to x-Rite. Also, I have un-installed the Calibrite Profiler application (also going through the libraries to remove all references), re-installed the application and re-booted. These actions have not resolved the failed calibrations through Apple Pro Display Calibrator.

I have a ticket open with Calibrite on this issue but suspect they will not be able to help solve the problem with Apple Pro Display Calibrator. Does anyone have ideas that I can try to complete the display calibration using Apple Pro Display Calibrator.

Thank you in advance.

Don

BTW. I have followed the ArtIsRight instructions in a video he posted on April 11.

So, based on what I'm hearing, there's a bug in 26.4.1 that prevents this process from completing. This is a bug that will hopefully be fixed in the next release.

For clarification in my video guide
I was using 26.4 without the x.x.1 release

Hi Art,

I did follow your excellent instructions. Unfortunately, I was on 26.4.1 when I performed the calibration. I need to let Apple know (possibly they already know) that they have introduced this bug. Thank you for the excellent work that you perform for the community.

Hi All,

Calibrite responded to my customer service request regarding issue with 26.4.1. Calibrite also reports that Apple is aware of the issue. Hopefully, they will resolve in the next release.

In the interim, ArtIsRight's process detailed in this video:
