Wow cindori is turning into a bigger flame troll then me :eek::eek:

Used to love building my own power machine but to be honest the main reason I'm using a Mac Pro is to have peace of mind. To know that when a customer calls I can deliver is what really matters. Besides longer hours mean more hours we can bill right? If not: you are doing something wrong :)

If you are going to spend 7K this makes me wonder if you can perhaps get a older MP and a new 5K one, use the older for working and the new 12 core as a render farm...bucket... Besides the improvements are marginal considering the money / risk.

Just took my 2006 MP out of the stoneage by adding a 2TB WD E4(much better boottimes then the 2TB WD green it replaces), another 8GB of memory and a 4870. Then again mostly using Final Cut and some Photoshopping.

you want to create advertisement. you're affliated with that site/company.

fast (gives you about one MP generation speed advantage), but almost certainly not hassle-free, if you want to update anything...

They spent 6 months designing that machine? Mann that doesn't sound very reassuring. What's the difference with this company and some random dude buying the simliar parts and spending a couple of weeks on the hackintosh forum? 5.5 months thats what har har..

I love the review too.. DOA (dead on arrival) lol

They should also consider putting some time, effort and show some competency into their website. It is a refection of the company as a whole not really surprised actually. They don't even have any content. About Us? Company Info? no email address? ru serious!? It's almost as if they did it one afternoon as homework for a highschool class. What fool would sent them 7k? OP you affiliated? hope not.

Cut the price VERY significantly and we'll talk. I would imagine only professionals or companies would pay this much money for a box, and they would probably never entertain running a hackintosh due to liability and upgrade issues. Easier (and cheaper) just to buy a Mac Pro and upgrade a little earlier.

Again, I do not have ANYTHING to do with that company.

Myself, I own a Harpertown 2.8 Octo Mac Pro with 16 GB of OWC RAM, a GTX285 and a 2600XT which powers 3 monitors.

I stumbled across the Macintouch Review for the thing as I was reading Mac news and trying to find out when the 27" Apple Cinema Display would be available for purchase.

Given the lofty claims of the company, I introduced here to cuss and discuss. So far, we have.

Mostly cussing ;)

I and others have said it. You lose a huge advantage with this computer, in that its outrageously expensive. One advantage with building your own hackintosh is picking and choosing the components and saving money. You get a cutting edge computer running OSX. Given Apple's penchant for not being quick on the draw to use current technology, its a valid alternative.

With this computer, you don't build it yourself, you don't choose the components, and you're not saving that much money.

Plus for a lot of money and the target of this computer, warranty and support is questionable. At least with Macs you can call apple support.
