Anyone else have this happen?

Same thing here. Same date slips. Ordered just after 0900 EDT. I had to change the delivery address Friday evening and figured that was why.

Yes, exact situation I’m in. Had Friday 9/24 delivery, but order has been stuck in Order Processing and never moved to Prepare to Ship. Was still at 9/24 first thing this morn, but by late morning it had changed to Oct 4-6. It even says ‘We’ll update your delivery date when your order prepares to ship’, which means the actual delivery date could be better or worse! I did not make any changes to the order or change my address. I called Apple last night to ask why it hadn’t moved to Prepared to Ship, and they assured me everything was good with my order and that it would process soon. Not happy!

Mine has been stuck on 'preparing to ship' for the last day or so... Sigh. Still says Friday but now this makes me wonder.

This would be unusual for Apple, I don't think I've ever seen them push delivery dates out afterwards.

Well this is not a usual year. COVID has disrupted the supply chain so much that there are shortages everywhere.

were you able to look up the tracking number from ups.com? If you have ups my choice app and you have tracking, i would not worry about it as you will get yours on the 24th.

Also do note that the status on apple.com will not change until Thursday. Right now all status is PTS.

I'm in Canada so I'm not sure that will work for me. But thanks for the heads up, that's interesting as I'm fairly sure I've seen some claim that theirs have gone to 'shipped'.

Do you have tracking (from UPS/FedEx) yet? If not the chance that your get your phone on 9/24 is pretty slim.
Yes. Current UPS status is “On the way.”

It’s in the ZhengZhou dance of
Origin Scan
Departed from Facility
Arrived at Facility

Last status is 6:05 pm on Sept 19
That is same as has happened past several years.

It actually starts moving in earnest on the Wednesday before the Friday of US delivery.

Well this is not a usual year. COVID has disrupted the supply chain so much that there are shortages everywhere.

Apple normally starts building and stockpiling phones for months before release day. It’s not like they have to build all these phones after they were ordered last friday. Apple knew how many phones they had going into friday, just like they do every year. Any supply chain issues would have already been accounted for.

Interesting that my delivery date hasn't changed (still shows 24th) but no tracking info yet is definitely worrisome. Not sure what's going on.

Edit: Someone in another thread said this is normal behavior when tracking the order through the Apple Store for it to say "Preparing for Shipping" when it has actually already shipped.
