Any other uses for my old 5th gen Airport Extreme?

I upgraded to the newest gen (6th?) Apirport Extreme. Any other uses for my old 5th gen Airport Extreme? Or would i get better enjoyment using it for target practice?

At the very least, you could give it to someone who needs it, or donate it to GoodWill...

I use mine for a printer server. It's connected to a powerline adapter, fed by my AE 6th Gen.

You can set it is a bridge and put it to the opposite side of you house. Then you'll have better Wifi coverage everywhere.

Use it for a gigabit switch.
Attach a drive for additional network storage.
Extend your network outside or to an area you would not like to place your new router.
Sell it on eBay for about 30-40 dollars.

no unless you have 802.11ac clients. in terms of reach 6gen is similar to 5th gen. older versions are worse.

I looked into this recently and found several tests comparing the 5th to 6th generations. The 6th gen was faster at each tested distance by @ 10mbps. The speed exception of course is the AC vs N but for N the new generation was better in every test by the small margin.

I'm thinking I will upgrade once my internet is faster. I currently have 75/10 which the N routers handle with no problem. If I get a chance in the future to install 150+ service I will consider the upgrade and look at the refurbished models.

No. ethernet speed is more or less the same. Wifi is much improved though.
