I wrote a quick ajax & php app to provide textual weather information from NOAA. This will not be useful to anyone who can not read textual METAR's and TAF's, but I use it frequently when preparing for a flight.

I'll try it right now! I never thought how useful the iPhone could be in the cockpit...


It's small and light (which is good)...but the METAR text seems too small. I think I'm viewing it correctly....

EDIT: than I turned it sideways... Flawless!!!

Though presumably not legal to use in flight, which is too bad since it would save a lot of dough over panel-mount systems that do little more.

Cessna's new light sport aircraft is being announced this month.

Instead of the popular G1000 avionics screens, they have partnered with Apple to develop the i1000, It uses two iPhones for the PFD and MFD.

And it even has coverflow for your jep plates.
And if you get bored the MFD has YouTube.
