6+ to the X. I already got my iPhone X case and I must say that I like the thinner form factor.

I have mixed feelings on the screen dimensions but I'm taking the leap from the 7 Plus to the X anyway, because I just can't pass up on a number of the features that are exclusive to it.

I will miss these things:
  • The wider display of the 7 Plus, which is great for reading text in portrait.
  • The taller display of the 7 Plus in landscape orientation, which again is great for reading a webpage or text where you want a little vertical room to see more of the document

But I will enjoy these things:
  • OLED display!
  • High PPI in a phone body closer to the non-Plus 7
  • Easier to hold and handle like the non-Plus 7
  • FaceID, enhanced front-facing camera, better rear telephoto, edge to edge screen, etc.
It will also be an adjustment for my wife who will be stepping up from the 7. She's a one-thumb typer (actually she uses the Swype keyboard), so it remains to be seen if the slightly wider body will impact her much.

Here's a good picture of the difference and size (side by side) between the iPhone X and iPhone 7 plus.

I'm planning on the X, have had 6, 6+ And 7+

Plus user here since 6Plus came out, and I have to say I'm beyond excited about the X size. I think it's the best of both worlds. I'm not even mad about the notch, because it means an even higher body/screen aspect ratio.

7 plus here. I need to see the X in person and hold it before making the final decision. Pretty sure I'm not going to be worried about size though ;).

Have the 7plus now, can't wait to see what the X is about! Hopefully the wait for it when the preorder starts ain't a **** show like it was for the 7 lol

7+ currently and going to an 8+.

Going to the X would require losing usable screen size, battery life, and having to live with a new user experience and interactions that don’t look at that enticing.

Touch ID as well.

Maybe next year when there is a X Plus model.

I'm going from the 7+ to a X. I was actually thinking of going with a smaller phone this go around anyway. And rumors of the X started coming around and I knew I wanted it. I'm actually pretty excited about the facial recognition, interested to see what apple lets developers do with it.

I am eager to switch from a 7Plus to the X. Primary reason is size. I wear a size large glove and my hand measures 10.0 inches around my knuckles. The 7Plus is just a little to big to handle with one hand all the time and it leads to moments when it may drop-- like carrying bags and checking in at the airport TSA. I am forced to use a Galaxy S7 for work and that is the perfect size. Turns out it has almost the same exact dimensions as the X. One hand operation and secure grip (but that's all I can say good about the S7).

So I'll take a slightly smaller screen to have an easier time carrying it and using one hand to operate it with confidence.

I'm undecided (having a 7+ at the moment). Those two points above are what makes the plus such a great device for reading and I just can't see it being as good on the X.

I'm planning a 7+ to X switch here as well. The +phone is great size when you are using it, but inconvenient to carry a chunk of the time. I'm hoping the X is a 'best of both' option like some of the other posters.

One more thing - dark mode makes sense in an OLED device due to how the screen technology works. An LCD screen consumes more power when dark, so would have reduced battery life. Once we have a high uptake of OLED devices dark mode will come...

If they would have offered 512 gig on the X I would have went for it, but since I can get most of the same features on the 8+, and a couple hundred bucks cheaper. Coming from a 7+ I didn't want a smaller screen, so went with the plus. Seems like the X is gonna be a madhouse soon anyway, plus the shortages rumors.

X was very tempting.

I have a 7 plus making the move to the X and i can't lie i will miss the plus size a tad because i got used to the size but that's the compromise I'm willing to make for the oled screen hopefully in a year or 2 a plus size version will come back for whatever there gonna call it ill be getting that.

Yeah, that's probably my only real "concern". I'm with the 7 Plus now, love the bigger device, so curious to see how I feel about the X screen size when it arrives. If they make an X Plus, I'd definitely get that.

It’s interesting how the bigger display is now a debatable issue.

Either way, I’ll stick with the Plus until the X has a legit equivalent.

At least the 5, 5s and SE folks aren't chiming in on this thread stating the X is too beaucoup.

Gets worse...

iPhone owners on this forum through the years...

  1. OLED sucks.
  2. No one needs higher PPI displays. Retina is perfect
  3. Wireless charging is stupid
  4. Big screens are pointless because they can’t be used with one hand
  5. We don’t need choices for screen size. One size is perfect
  6. iPhones are easier to use without a file system
  7. Higher megapixel cameras mean nothing
Somewhere a Samsung executive is banging his head against the wall.

6+ last 3 years, cannot wait to get the X as the plus is a beast in your pocket and hard to use one handed. If the X had not come out I would be buying the 8, not the 8+

It's just too big to tote around in your pocket everyday. Oh, I love the notch, no issue at all for me!

7+ here. Going to try to get the X.

I’m not really happy about losing some real estate, as I can use the 7+ with one hand easily. But I’m in the minority as xlarge gloves are pretty damned tight on me.

Interesting to see so many people who have the Plus for the better features but seem to be generally unhappy with it. I guess in that scenario the X is the best of both worlds. Top features/specs in a smaller form factor.
I've never had a problem with size of the Plus, as someone who's quite tall with probably larger than average hands I can use it comfortably even one handed and it fits in my back pocket of all my clothes.
