I can't decide if mine has the defect that everyone else is having.

Max and min brightness. Do you see anything wrong?

Your screen is perfect. Move on.

Don't judge the quality of the screen by pictures of it taken from a short distance.

I don't see anything if you don't see anything. Its tough to judge from pics, unless there's something really wrong. The camera you're using adjusts its exposure in weird ways when photographing screens, and the human eye will see the screen differently.

I've seen one funky screen in person, so don't get too worried. ;)

You shouldn't have to decide. It should be something you see right away. I've had 2 now with the yellow tint along the left side, most severe in the left corner.

Although the second one is better, it's still noticeable to me. I would expect this kind of unevenness on a budget tablet, so I'm definitely a bit disappointed.

So it will be quite obvious?

When I pop the keyboard up, the left does seem a bit warm. But maybe this site is warm on the left, and the keyboard is transparent.

When do you see it? White background ? Max brightness?

You should see yellowing or shadowing along the left with a white background. It also gives grey a yellow tint. If you haven't seen it already, I would say it's not a problem for you. Brightness level doesn't matter.

Ok. I haven't notice anything too obvious.

I thought about exchange it for a rmini. But I am changing my mind now and would probably just keep this one.

Now I am looking for it, there is some unevenness .

The a key is warmer than b , n or m

The left and right shift also look different.

Is this worth exchange ?

Might get worse ones?

If you can't tell whether it has a problem or not, chancea are that the next one will not be any better. You have a decision to make. Does it bother you? Return it. Can you live with it? Keep it and enjoy it.

Good luck with that.

seriously? you can't see it? what is wrong with your eyes man? maybe you need to turn the brightness up a little. I took your picture and turned the brightness up a bit and ran the screen test and it's so unbelievably clear that you got one of the faulty screens. if you look really close you can see it in the bottom left.

take it back immediately!

I don't understand why you are trying to find a problem. Just use it, and enjoy it.

It looks fine to me.

Ok. The unevenness is surely there.

If I tilt the screen, I can see color temperature changing.

I am one hour away from the apple store. I will drive by it next week. If I want to exchange it, I need to decide.

Because Vigo, the Scourge of Carpathia, the Sorrow of Moldavia, commanded you to...duh:p

I am doomed

MR virus has claimed another victim. :)

Seriously, there will always be some unevenness, right?

Yes. You will never find a screen that is 100/100 perfect, there will always be slight variations and defects - that 99% of the people would not notice.

If you go out searching for problems, you will inevitably find something.

The only question is: were you happy with it before you posted it here and had someone point out a problem; and are/will you be happy now that you found the problem?

If you are not happy with it, return it.

I exchanged my iPad Airs that looked like that - but now I have no iPad. So I dunno....

Ok. I will look at the demos in store then decide.

LOL, Apple is going to put their best units on the retail sales floor, just like those McDonald's Quarter Pounders that look awesome on TV.

When you get a girlfriend (someday, maybe), she probably won't look like Kate Upton. Will you be okay with that or will you kick her back to the curb as substandard?

As mentioned by someone else earlier, just ask yourself: "will I enjoy using this?"

If the answer is "no", then abort.

The opinion of MacRumor participants is completely irrelevant.

If the unevenness is visible, then it's a defective or poor quality screen. One side of the screen should not have a warm or yellow hue while the other has a cold or blue hue. On a premium tablet it's even more unacceptable to me.
