Any professionals in the design field?

I am currently a freshman in industrial design. I currently have a MacBook Pro and am currently looking at purchasing an iPad in the next 6 months or so.

What I have been wondering is, do any professionals (or students I guess) use their iPads for any productivity work? I have heard that there are some good design programs for it, but which ones? I am extremely curious.

I used mine to carry a TON of books around with me in eBook format and have access to the internet at any time.
