When there's abuse or neglect present, I wouldn't be surprised if they developed emotinal problems later in life... Of course, kids can have varying degrees of sensitivity to abuse or betrayal of certain kinds.

In other cases... well, I wouldn't be surprised either. I guess it's perfectly possible for kids to become paranoid with no good reason, but that's obviously a symptom of mental illness. I assume that's what you were referring to.

I wanted to hear some 'smart' questions, but it right off the bat turned into a debate. Well, maybe I should have expected it here.

Or anywhere else, for that matter.

Why would you ask for a "smart" question and then act surprised when the question is smart enough to engage some discussion about it?

Hold on now, let's not go calling something Boots said smart? ;)

To the OP here's a great question I was asked by my son this past weekend. Sunday was his first time to go the "adult" church service with us now that he is four years old. He did pretty well and got more comfortable as the service went on. Toward the end we were standing to sing. He pulled on my hand and whispered to me, "Daddy, I don't know the words to this song. Is it okay if I just sing 'Nana Nana Nana Nana BATMAN!' instead?" :D Sure, I told him, and he did just that. It was great. :)

Made my day :) Great story!
