Our family has 4 iPhones, two 11s and two 13s. We've had some little issues like battery health, my charging port is finnicky, etc., and we are due for upgrades from Verizon. Looks like we can all get free 15. I don't keep up with new releases, etc., but is there any reason not to upgrade to 15? I don't there's any specific feature we need, just wanted to make sure there wasn't something that made people avoid the 15. We would be getting the basic 15 not pro or Max. I think they all have USBC which would be nice. Thanks!

To put things in perspective- I’m using a iPhone 6S plus and I have zero desire to get a newer phone. For me, buying a newer phone is like flushing money down the toilet.
Eventually I’ll need to get something newer - but not today

The only reason to upgrade would be you. The only reason NOT to upgrade would also be you. It's your money, your time, your environment/situation. Do what is best for you and those with you.

If you're asking because you think there might be gotchas somewhere, well the 15 series has been out for some time now. It's a pretty good phone.

The iPhone 15 will miss out of Apple Intelligence. It's not something I care about at all and I don't think there's a single Apple Intelligence feature that I would use. Outside of that the iPhone 15 has excellent battery life and I'm sure it will serve you well for years.

Thanks! Not really concerned with ai just looking for a solid upgrade

You are quite an unusual case though if you’re using a phone as old as a 6S Plus. You’re not someone who uses a phone for anything demanding or need a decent quality camera quite clearly. I admire the longevity you’ve got out of the device, a phone I stopped using about 7 years ago. I do think anybody using a 12 or newer doesn’t really need to upgrade for anything other than wanting to, which is fine. These phones are designed to be used for multiple years and not the 12 month period many on Mac Rumours seem to think is appropriate.

iPhone 15 is great (I’m typing this on one) and, as others have mentioned, you need to decide what is important for you.

The major things you will “miss” by going with 15 vs 16, from the rumours we have heard so far, would be these elements:

- More RAM (8GB vs current 6GB)
- Apple Intelligence
- An Action Button instead of a mute switch
- Faster A-series chip
- Vertical camera lenses
- Wi-Fi 7

Perhaps check this sumup:

I am certainly not upgrading this time.

I know it’s not a biggie and likely covered by a case, but the rumoured 16 in White makes it worth waiting to see.

I’m still surprised Apple didn’t have a white iPhone 15.

FWIW, my “blue” iPhone 15 is effectively white with a very slight tint of blue most visible on the camera bump.
