Just curious how your screen is holding up if you're not using a screen protector on your iphone. I have a protector on that has quite a bit of scratches on it and am thinking of going naked.

No scratches. No screen protector. Never plan too. I leave my 5s naked.

The screen itself won't scratch easily (those real scratches you can feel with your nail), even with keys or coins). If you drop it or it slides on a concrete floor or asphalt it could get scratched due to quartz particles (which are harder than gorilla glass) on the floor. (If it doesn't break :D )
With normal use you don't have to worry about scratches. I've had my iPhone 5 naked for a year and have no scratches on the screen.

Are you sure? None? Not even a tiny one that you can only see if you hold your phone up to the light at a certain angle?

And how do you usually carry your phone around?

I notice lots of small little marks on my screen. I've heard sometimes these marks are just in the coating, and not the actual screen itself. Whenever my phone is in my pocket I almost always have another iPhone right next to it, a 4S which is about a week older and has similar marks.
A couple days ago I received a cheap plastic screen protector so I don't have to think about what else is in my pocket, such as keys. I would like to get one of those glass screen protectors instead though.

There are a few of those micro scratches, but you can barely see them even in bright light (you really have to look for them).
I don't really think those are scratches in the screan itself, but rather in oleophobic coating.
Either way they are practically invisible.

PS

My iPhone 4 had several real scratches on the screen (you could easily feel them), but they were invisible once the screen was on, and didn't impact using the device at all.
:)

Had none on my 5 that I passed onto my Mum which was used daily with no case, my 5s has also been fine (touch wood) although I do have a black leather apple case which I use for work now.

scratches on the screen ? Very unlikely .... not impossible, but unlikely.

Problem in keeping iPhone 5/5s naked is with the aluminum body, where scratches and scuffs are more likely to happen.

No scratches on my 5s yet, had it since launch. Only use the Apple case with it no screen protector. Always put it in my front pocket with nothing else in it. Also very ocd with it clean it every 30 mins :D

I've never used a screen protector on any handheld device, and I've never gotten any screen scratches as far as I can tell. My phone is either in my pocket, in my hand, or back-down on a flat surface. What's going to scratch the screen?

Normally I hate screen protectors. They always feel tacky and have that horrible rainbow effect going on.

But today I fitted the Spigen Glas protector. Fitting was easy and no bubbles so I'm happy on that front. The protector has a similar feel to the screen and no rainbow.

I use the Apple case so I'm now well protected. Just for the record I'm really clumsy so protecting my screen is never a bad idea.

I have a scratch by where the ear speaker is. Unfortunately i got my screen protector a day after I purchased my phone.

No screen protector (or case) and no scratches anywhere. The 5s seems a lot tougher than the 5 IMO.

I have a small one that's only noticeable at a certain angle when the screen is off.

I don't know how it got there as I always have it in my pocket alone with no coins or keys.

I just discovered a few scratches in really bright light. Disappointed didn't expect to have so many scratches so soon. And I haven't dropped it

Well, no scratches, but I do use a SP on both sides. Only because I'm pretty rough on it; I usually slide it on tables, toss it, I don't think of which (empty) pocket to put it in. The front SP is fine with no discernible scratches, but the back middle "matte" part is scratched up unlike the glossy top and bottom part which seems to be scratch-free.

This. Once upon a time I got my kids some used DS Lites. The screens were scratched and they cracked another. In operation it was no big deal; defects were not noticed.

Having said that, I prefer to run my iPhones with a super slim case and screen protector. I like the extra layer of protection for those oh-54!7 moments.

BTW: No scratches on my screen

A good screen protector cannot be seen and will add an extra later if protection. Why take a chance
