So i have auto brightness turned off but sometimes when i pick up my phone to use it after awhile the screen brightness has dropped. This happened before and after the update. I'm using an xr.

Any idea why ?

Thanks.

EDIT: So i decided to do a full restore/reset on my phone and it seemed to of worked for now. Thanks everyone for the help.

If it’s the case where it becomes bright again after you tap something, it’s a power management setting, not a screen brightness setting; Screen brightness is about the brithness while you’re using it. DImming on idle, and eventually turning off entirely, that’s power management

Hey thanks but i think it's something else. It doesn't go brighter after touching it, i have to manually go and slide the brightness back up.

The phone would usually lower the brightness when it gets hot on the inside.
Is this something familiar to you? What do you do on your phone so that the screen gets dimmer?

Ya i've heard of that. My phone never gets hot. This happens after waking up my phone after it's been sitting for awhile. It's new since i got the phone a couple weeks ago.

Phones with Face ID have a 3 settings that may/may not adjust your screen brightness.

1. Settings--Display & Brightness--manually adjust your brightness.
2. Settings--Accessibility--Display & Text Size--scroll to bottom--Auto-Brightness--toggle on/off.
3. Settings--Accessibility--Face ID & Attention--Attention Aware Features--toggle switch to desired choice

I have an iPhone SE 2020 whose screen dims when it gets hot (e.g., when on my car's dashboard during the summer).
