What do you expect from throats? :p
lol, i actually expect singers to be able to read music, rhythms and produce the pitches that i write. I took aural skills, i can sing Schönberg even though i am not a singer. Oh well, forgive me for asking soooo much out of classically trained musicians... :p

BTW, the performance of my composition totally blew. I hate the attitude that many musicians hold towards new music.

Hey, everyone! The results were posted after school today: sadly, I didn't make our school's show choir. However, the music teacher explained to me that my vocal audition showed 'talent'. He also said that my dance part was 'awesome'... I didn't see that one coming!

Anyway, I compared the judging sheets we got back with my friends'. To my surprise, my vocal and dance audition scores were higher than all but two of the kids who made show choir. The reason that I didn't make the ensemble was my lack of vocal experience. The way the auditions worked, kids won tons and tons of points for being in chorus, musicals, and county music festivals in the past. I had 15 available little boxes to check: I could only check one, while some kids checked them all! The experience counted for 35% of your score, so in effect most of the other kids had a 35% lead on me to start with. Oh well.

I'm really happy to say, though, that with vocal training my teacher has made me sound a million times better. He wants me to go on with singing, and I'm eyeing a lead role in this fall's school musical!

Thanks a ton for your help and support, everyone!

Through experience, try to use your upper abs to push the air out of your lungs strongly, but slowly, and while doing so, be sure to push your "gut" outwards. It really helps if you want to hit certain high notes. Just try it out, see if it works.:)

To the OP congrats on everything. It sounds like you learned a few things along the way (not from us, but form life as well). Keep up the work, as it will take you places.
