My mom took the 5n on her trip to europe, I set it to auto mode so she don't have to change anything.. turns out pretty nice, considering some of them taken from inside the tour bus, lol..

bigjnyc - that pic looks awesome (quality AND location...). Did you do any editing to it, or is it straight out of the camera? So far I've just been shooting in jpeg since I don't know how to use RAW editing software yet. Still trying to learn.

That was straight out of the camera, and whats even more impressive is that I had it in the intelligent auto setting so I didn't even make and adjustments.

DZIGG, I am having problems while playing some nex-5n videos on my mac air. I see that you have the same mac air that I do. Everything goes ok on my pc. Could you please contact me? andre.rfurtado@gmail.com, or gimme yours.

Thanks.

I enjoy the the video on my Nex-7, a fun-only thing for me. Most professional reviewers say to get a video camera if you are serious about video. Sony has at least one model that uses the Nex e-mount and adapted lenses.

As for adapters and legacy lenses, they do work well and it is fun but do realize that modern Sony lenses are very sharp, can work automatically, have stabilization, are light (old brass and glass lenses are precise and heavy!) and these days the price of the more legendary old lenses has risen.

They are not recommended for those who shoot in the Auto mode or aren't reasonably savvy about old-school techniques and how to use aperture, speed, focusing, etc. The good news is that the Auto setting is very good and with a kit zoom you can get a decent shot of about anything quickly and reliably.

Just bought the NEX-5N and I would agree it's a great camera, exactly what we needed in terms of size and picture quality. Pretty much DSLR quality to be honest, ideal for someone getting into photography a bit more. Prices are currently dropping as the next gen model is out soon although it isn't going to change that much so I went for the NEX-5N anyway :)

Even on the iAuto mode the quality is great!

The selective colour mode is great fun too ;)
