Hi all. I have a 2016 MacBook 12" with a faulty keyboard. I was going to send it for repair under the 4 year extended program earlier this year, but then Corona hit, etc. Anyway, the purchase date was July 2016, so I'm past the 4 year extension. Does anyone know if Apple has any leniency on the 4 year extension due to Corona?

Question 2:
The battery is dead, completely dead. If I unplug the charger, it immediately shuts down, does not even go to sleep. I have an ebay $55 replacement in my cart (but not bought yet). Should I purchase it and do the battery swap myself (I have many times on other Apple laptops). Does Apple need a working battery before they replace the keyboard?

My goal with this laptop is to sell it on ebay, and put the money toward an M1 laptop. IDK if its worth all this hassle, or should I just throw it in the trash and put this machine out of its misery. I haven't used the computer in 2 years because it is so bad. (Worst apple product by far I've ever had, and I've been a fanboy since the early 90's).

Thanks for any comments!

Have you gotten an estimate on Apple's trade-in program? You're prompted with a series of questions that determines what your laptop is worth and none of the questions ask about the battery's health, and as you said, the keyboard is defective. If they give you something for it, might be best to trade in to Apple since you'll have to spend money and time to fix your MacBook up to sell on eBay. Usually the Apple trade-in program is the worst deal out there, but might actually make the most sense in your case.

Yes, I just did. 260. I may go this route. Thanks for the idea.
